My insecurities are my enemy. They make me second guess my every move.
After that night at Kai’s, I’ve wanted to broach the topic. Tell him how much I liked what we did and ask if we could do it again, but every time I consider it, I chicken out.
It’s not like he leaves the topic wide open. He flirts, but he’s been very PG with it. Almost like he is scared to talk about it.
Does that mean he doesn’t want me like that? Did I embarrass myself? I mean, he said I was wet down there. I felt myself gush out wetness when he was done.
I bite my lip with worry.
What if I wasn’t supposed to do that? What if that’s gross, and he was only being polite?
Wait, he licked his fingers after. He moaned at the taste. Would he do that if that is gross?
I groan, wishing I had someone I could talk to about it. I considered asking Callum. But no matter how close we’ve become he is a man and who knows what he would do to Kai.
I’m guessing what we did was not something we should have done. Something Callum wouldn’t approve of.
If only I could see my mother. Or maybe Miss Kelly.
I’m so lost in my thoughts that I jump when the phone vibrates on my lap.
“Kai,” I answer breathlessly.
“I wish you were with me right now.” His voice is ragged, making me sit up straight.
“What’s wrong? Are you hurt?” I can’t hide the panic in my voice.
He lets out a sigh. “Do you know much about what we do?”
“No.”
“We own strip clubs but the real money comes from the brothels we operate out of the clubs. Then a couple years ago I got us into the casino business.”
“Wait, you force women into sharing their bodies?”
“No, we don’t. All the women who work for us choose to be there. We don’t force anyone.”
“What about the casino?”
“We have women there too. But the casino is our way to be more legit.”
“Tell me about it?”
“It’s good. I enjoy it more than I thought I would. Even with the problem we’ve been having lately.”
“What kind of problem?”
“There is a team that has been trying to cheat. Coming in trying to steal from us. We caught one man, but he had a partner. It has been proving difficult to find the second man.” He pauses. “Who happens to be Irish.”
“Oh. Who is it?”
He clears his throat. “Are you sure you want to know?”
“Of course. I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t. I mean, unless I shouldn’t know. I understand if you don’t want to tell me.”
He chuckles. “I told you no secrets. I’ll tell you anything you want to know. It’s Johnny Walsh.”
“One of the Irish?”
