After counting to thirty in my head, I make my way out of the bathroom. When I get back to the table, Igor is gone, leaving me with Ivan.

I slide into the booth opposite of him, ignoring the glare he sends my way.

“Sit over here,” he demands.

I give him a small smile. “I’m not feeling too well. I don’t want to be so close that I can get you sick.”

I fake a sniffle, hoping he buys it. The way his eyes narrow tells me he doesn’t.

“You prefer my son? Maybe I’ll let him have you when I’m through with you. Get over here.”

His tone leaves no room for argument.

Slowly sliding from the booth, I move toward his side.

Before I can sit back down, a noise outside draws my attention.

“We’re under attack,” someone yells.

Then I’m pushed to the floor.

Ivan is being ushered toward the back. Igor is in front of me within a blink of an eye, pulling me off the floor.

“We have to go. Come on,” he says, pulling me in the same direction his father went.

Once at the door, he looks out before trying to usher me to an empty car. Another car is already speeding down the alley.

I pull back from him. “No. Stop.”

He grunts. “We need to go. I’m protecting you.”

“I don’t want to. Let me go.” I pull back from him, cringing when his hand causes pain in my wrist.

“I think the lady asked you to let her go.”

Igor’s eyes widen when he hears the voice.

He doesn’t have an opportunity to respond. Kai slips in behind him, a knife in his hand. He smiles at me over the man’s shoulder.

Then all I see is blood.

I wanted to rush and take her away from the Russians as soon as Kenji told me that's where they went. That fucking father of hers is asking for a death sentence.

I know for a fact that she was not supposed to have a date with the Russian today. In fact, she told me herself that she has asked not to see them again.

The first and last date with the Russian frightened her enough.

I’ll kill him one day for that, but for now I need to focus on her.

“She’s scared. She didn’t say it, but I could hear it in her voice. We need to get her out of there,” I tell Akita and Kenji.

Kado is around back, keeping an eye on the exit.

“What do you want to do? Full fire power? Bomb? I’ll sacrifice myself and walk right in there,” Akita says with confidence.

“No. She practically begged me not to walk in there. We need to distract them. Get them to move her.”

“I’m on it,” Kenji says, walking away from us with his hands in his pocket as he whistles.
