Yet, I’m over here, Virgin Mary without a clue.
What does he even want with someone like me?
Clearly, I wouldn’t know what to do with him. If he was standing next to me naked, I would have no idea what to do.
I would probably hyperventilate.
Picking up the phone, I type in my code, the date I met Kai. Hopefully that will be secure enough.
Then I stare at his photo.
He really is gorgeous. Those lips.
Closing my eyes, I reach up, touching my own lips, remembering the feel of his against mine.
Fire. That’s what it felt like. Like a fire was burning through my body.
Is that how it always feels? Maybe I should ask him.
No, dummy. Doing that would show your inexperience.
He already knows that he was my first kiss. My first date.
What am I going to do?
The phone vibrates in my hand.
Looking down, I see a text from him.
Kai ?: Don’t forget to call me, gorgeous. Cannot wait to hear your voice.
My heart stutters. My finger hovers over the call button.
Before I can question myself, I press it, holding the phone to my ear.
“Good evening, Cleo.”
I suck in a breath, his voice filling my body with a million butterflies.
“Hi,” I squeak out.
He chuckles. “You’re adorable. Did you know that?”
“Um. No.”
“Well, you are. How was your date today?”
I bring my finger up to my mouth, pressing my teeth into my nail for a moment before answering.
“It wasn’t terrible.”
A growl filters through the phone. “Not terrible? That doesn’t sound like you hated it, princess.”
“Maybe because I didn’t?”
If I don’t get a hold of myself soon, I might pass out. My breaths are coming too quickly. Not only do my eyes keep glancing toward my door, afraid someone might catch me, but my body also seems to really enjoy Kai’s voice.
“I’ll kill him. You won’t ever see him again.”
