“I just mean that the money is going towards bills.”
“But there should be enough money to cover your bills and you still have plenty left over. A few million.”
“A few million?” I froze in place.
“I told you I bid high on you. Or at least I thought I told you that. I don’t know,” he shrugged. “I was a nervous wreck when I came into the room so there is no telling what I rambled about honestly.”
“I was… Well, I'm still a nervous wreck. Truthfully.”
Kian leaned down and kissed me sweetly.
“No reason to be. I’m here,” he smiled.
“Are you always nice to women like this?” I asked, pushing past all my nerves. Kian’s body stiffened and I worried I had pissed him off. “Sorr--”
“No.”
“No?” I whispered.
“No, I actually don’t act like this with women. I mean, I’m not a dick to women, but I’d be dressed and gone by now,” he sighed heavily. “Sorry. That came out rude.”
“No, don’t be sorry.” I looked up at him and smiled. “I can appreciate bluntness. You don’t have to sugarcoat anything with me, Kian.”
“Most women don’t like my honesty. In fact, they consider me an asshole.”
“Really?” I sat up on my elbow and cocked my head to the side. “That surprises me.”
“Why’s that?” he laughed whole-heartedly. There was a slight twinkle in his eyes.
“I like your laugh,” I admitted absently. When his laughter stopped, I instantly regretted my confession. “Sorry, I--”
Kian’s hand grabbed the back of my neck and he pulled me into him. Our lips crashed together. His tongue pressed past the crease in my lips. My own tongue explored past his lips and deepened our kiss. Flames ignited in my core. I gasped and moaned against his lips. My hands roamed across his body, greedily needing more of him.
“Kian,” I moaned into his mouth.
“Giselle,” he retorted huskily. Our kiss continued with our hands wandering across each other’s body. The kiss was like air. I felt that without it I’d die. So, when he slowly pulled away and broke our kiss I whimpered from the loss of his touch.
“Let’s go to my place,” he panted.
“What?” I squeaked. His words had come out of left field.
“I want to take you back to my place. Where we can both relax and not have to rush when the sun rises. If you want to, that is,” he added.
“I thought this was just… a one night thing.”
“Is that what you want?”
“I’m…” I took a deep breath. “I’m not sure what I want. I just don’t want you thinking I’m some gold digger, who is trying to--”
Kian kissed me hard and pulled away.
“Stop. Don’t ever say those words again when referring to yourself. Understood?” he said passionately. I had struck a nerve with my words. His struck nerve told me a lot about his character and how he saw me.
“Why are you smiling?” he laughed then kissed my forehead.
“You just seemed really passionate about what you just said. It was sweet,” I kissed the tip of his chin and smiled.
“That’s because I’m serious. I could tell right away that you weren’t in this because you’re chasing men down for money.”
