“Sorry, Greggory,” I offered him an apologetic smile. “I just have a lot on my mind. It’s to the point where I feel like I’m going to be sick all the time.”
“Is it Gerald? I’ll kick his ass. Well, not me. I’m a lover not a fighter. But I’ll hire someone to kick his ass,” Greggory sassed.
“You are a true friend,” I laughed.
We began walking again.
“Why don’t you just tell him already?” Greggory glanced at me.
“Tell him what?”
“That you’re madly in love with him.”
I stopped walking again.
“I am not!” I shouted. Several people walking by stopped and looked at us. “Sorry,” I said in a much softer tone.
“If you aren’t then why did you scream at me?” Greggory grinned ear to ear.
Damn him.
“So what if I am? It doesn’t change a single thing.”
I had made the mistake of telling Greggory about Gerald and my contract. I hadn’t done it intentionally. I had burst into tears during class, ran out into the hallway, and Greggory chased me down. We walked around campus and I divulged everything to him. Even the wild kinky sex.
“I’ve seen the way he looks at you, Kaylee. The man is in love.L-O-V-E!”he chanted like a cheerleader.
“You’re insane,” I giggled.
“Cheerleader all through high school, sweetheart.” He shook his hands as though he had pom poms in them, making me laugh.
“Still have the enthusiasm that’s for sure.”
“And the pom poms,” he smiled brightly. “Come on, let’s get you out front. I’m sure Gerald is dying to see you.”
“Doubtful,” I sniffled.
“Oh, honey. Come here,” Greggory pulled me into his arms and hugged me. The minute my face rested against his chest, I burst into tears.
It was nice to know that he was there for me.
“It’s okay, sweetheart. It will all work out,” he rubbed my back. I continued to cry like a big ass baby without a care in the world. “You’re going to ruin my shirt with your mascara,” Greggory teased, making me laugh and sniffle.
“That’ll be the least of your problems,” Gerald growled.
I pulled away from Greggory to find Gerald glaring.
“Why are you here?” I sniffled.
“Because you hadn’t come out front and I got worried. But I guess you’re just fine, since you’re in another man’s arms,” he snapped. Greggory stepped between Gerald and me.
“Look, buddy,” Greggory said in a voice that was completely opposite of his flamboyant, cheerful one that I usually heard. He sounded almost possessed. “Don’t you ever talk to Kaylee like that again. You might be taller…”
Greggory eyed Gerald up and down.
“And bigger than me… and definitely stronger than me, but you bet your sweet ass that I will find a damn chair and beat your ass with it,” Greggory sassed. He added a dramatic snap at the end.
“Oh,” Gerald’s face softened. He looked almost shocked. “You’re… You’re gay.”
