“How did you know about the fire?” Jack asked, staring down at Monroe.

“Oh, I heard it from my dad. He was talking about how the mutt that the bitch was trying to set me up with was one of the things killed. Are you ok? Your mutt wasn’t killed also, was it?” Monroe asked, batting her lashes up at Jack.

“No, Spock wasn’t in the kennels. He was inside Jenn’s house with me.” Jack answered, seeing her eyes flare with anger at that bit of news.

“In the house? You’re banging the trainer? Is that how you got the position, Jack?”

“I don’t have time for your dramatics Tabitha. I need to get inside. I’m here to have lunch with Pratt and Raso to discuss some shit.” Jack lied, not wanting Monroe to know that Jenn was here.

“I’d love to see you, you know, now that I’m not with the department anymore.” Monroe said as she leaned forward to kiss his cheek.

Jack moved back out of Monroe’s reach before her lips could make the connection. “Not happening. I’m not interested in you. Never have been and never will. I prefer a woman who knows how to take care of herself and doesn’t need a man to take care of them. I’m no one’s sugar daddy, Monroe. Grow the fuck up!”

Jack walked away, ignoring Monroe’s screech of anger as he walked into the building to find Jenn. When he walked into the bullpen where the detectives sat, he walked straight to Pratt’s desk, looking around the office for Jenn.

“Hey, did Jenniffer forget something?” Pratt asked, looking up at Jack in surprise.

“No, I was just looking for her. What do you mean did she forget something?” Jack asked, still looking around for Jenn.

“Dude, she walked outside like five minutes ago to wait for you.” Pratt answered, standing up from her desk, causing the others to look up.

“Son of a bitch!” Jack bellowed, running outside, looking around the parking lot for Jenn.

Pratt, Raso and Diesel came running out behind him, not understanding what the issue was. “Jack, what’s wrong?” Raso asked, her hands on his arm.

“If she came out five minutes ago, then she saw Monroe make her move and assumed that I was accepting the actions. I was in shock because something she said made me freeze.”

“What did the bitch say?” Diesel growled towards Jack, searching the parking lot for the offending person.

CHAPTERTHIRTEEN

Jack kept trying Jenniffer’s phone. He’d already checked the house and the property twice, even getting help from Dom, Pratt, Raso and Diesel incase he’d missed her in one of those searches. No one had been able to find her. She never made it to the insurance adjuster’s office according to him and he was a little pissed she’d missed her appointment, that is until Diesel had a few words with him.

“We’ll find her!” Dom promised, gripping Jack’s shoulders, forcing him to focus on him.

“Damn it, she thinks I like Monroe. I feel pukish when I think of that bitch.” Jack roared, at his friend, the anger evident in his voice.

“We’ll get it worked out. Look, after what she’s been through, you have to know she’s going to have trust issues. It’s hell on a woman when they wake up from a coma and find out every little thing they thought about a relationship was a lie.” Pratt softly told Jack, walking up from her spot in the yard. “When we find her, or she comes home, we’ll set it straight. Had she stuck around, she would have seen that it wasn’t a happening thing. We women tend to jump to conclusions fast and realize too late the truth.”

Jack nodded, trying to have faith in what his friends were telling him. He’d never thought he’d find the one for him. But he knew it as soon as he laid eyes on Jenniffer she was the one for him. She was his everything. The breath of fresh air, the sun, the moon, the stars, hell, even his rain, thunder and his lightening. He would set things right. He had to.

An hour later, Jack just knew something wasn’t right. He looked over at Dom and nodded for him to step away from the rest of the group. When Dom stepped up to him, he placed his hands on his hips and looked down at his feet.

“Somethings not right. I can’t explain it. Jenn is a particular about being on time, being at all appointments and everything. We know that just from our training sessions with Spock and Hercules. Something is off and I don’t like it. We need to check into Monroe, this Miller guy and that Kimberlee chick. Something just isn’t right.”

“Yeah, I’m starting to feel that way too. Let me make some calls. Raso, with Marcus being in the Marines, he will have some contacts to check into Miller since he was Recon. He can also do some checking on the downlow with this Kimberlee chick. Girls like her are well known with the FNGs not ready to settle down yet.” Dom agreed, pulling out his phone as he looked over at his sister to have her come towards them.

With everyone having their own tasks to do, making their calls, Jack went about getting things worked out in the house. They wanted to make sure there were no cameras or bugs in the house, so Jack went about getting that portion taken care of while the others did their thing.

Within half an hour, Jack knew that Jenn’s house had been violated, and she would not like that. He found three cameras in the house. One in her office area, one in the living room, and one in the bedroom that gave them views of both her bedroom and the bathroom if she left the door open. He found several listening devices throughout the house as well. They were all properly bagged and tagged and sent to the lab to see if a location or any fingerprints could be gotten off them since they wore gloves in case they found anything.

Jack sent up a silent prayer to whatever deity that was out there for Jenniffer’s safe return. They had to find her alive and unharmed. He was good with her being pissed and in a fighting mood, but he wanted her alive and unharmed. He could handle pissed and in a fighting mood. He stood a chance of them being ok if she was in that kind of mood.

Pratt and Raso left earlier to take care of their kids while they made their calls and set some things in motion on their end. Several of their teammates came to the house and helped search the property to make sure there were no cameras that Jenn hadn’t set found on the property to keep an eye of her coming and goings around the land. By nightfall, they had a pretty good idea of what they were dealing with.

Jenniffer had been right. Someone had been watching her movements around the property, as well as causing issues, trying to scare her off or cause damage to the point she had no choice but to sell or break down and give in to giving the property to Kimberlee and Miller. Jack wouldn’t have put it past them to be the ones to do it, unless they hired someone to do it.

Jack was just sitting down to the kitchen table with Dom when there was s knock at the door. Both men rose and walked towards the door with their weapons in hand. When they opened the door, it was Pratt, Raso, their kids and spouses, all in tow, along with the rest of Alpha Squad, their captain and her husband, with food in each of the adult’s hand or a drink.
