Jenniffer felt the tears streaming down her face, wetting her shirt as she stared at Jack. She smiled weakly when Jack reached up and wiped the tears falling before sucking on his thumb.
“I’m not telling you this to make you cry, Jenn. I’m telling you this so that you know you’re not alone anymore. You have a family now. All you have to do is accept us. I’m crazy about you, Jenn. Hell, if I’m being honest here, I think I fell in love with you at first sight. You were walking out of that warehouse where the dogs were, your sexy ass swaying as you walked, the laughter you had from the dogs antics as they played in front of you. Your ponytail swaying as you walked. Fuck, even Dom had to say my name several times to get me back down to earth. All I could think about was grabbing that ponytail of yours and sinking my cock into you from behind.”
Jenniffer smiled over at Jack. “You did huh? The moves you did last night and this morning, or the moves in the shower?”
Jack had to shift in his seat as his cock started going rock hard at the images she was mentioning came back into his brain. “Fuck! If we didn’t have shit to do, we’d definitely be reliving every single one of those moments right now.”
Jenniffer leaned forward and placed a quick kiss on Jack’s lips as the knock sounded on the front door, causing Spock to bark. “Bummer.”
“Brat! I’ll get you back for that one.” Jack chuckled as Jenniffer stood up to go answer her front door.
Tyrell Miller stood on Jenniffer’s front porch, looking nothing like the man she’d served with four years ago. He looked bigger, meaner, more assessing than he had back then. While she knew he was the same height, he seemed like he was larger than she was in height. Or had she shrunk?
“Miller? What are you doing here?” Jenniffer asked in shock.
“I came after our conversation yesterday. It didn’t sit right with me. What the hell happen to the building out on your property? It’s still smoldering.”
“Someone set it on fire last night, well early this morning apparently. Killed two of my dogs that were in training for the Sheriff’s Department, and I have two others fighting for their lives. We were just getting ready to head to the vet’s office and check up on them before heading to the station to finish giving my statement.”
“We?”
Jenniffer stared after Miller after his question was made with narrowed eyes, looking over at Jack in question. “Yes,weas in myself and Jack.”
“Hello. I’m Jack. Jenniffer’s boyfriend.” Jack said, eying Miller down, since he had approximately five inches on the man.
“Does Jeff’s parents know you have a new man?” Miller asked, his question hitting Jenniffer right in the chest, causing her to gasp.
“What would mine and Jenniffer’s relationship have to do with her late ex’s parents? If they truly cared about her, they would be happy she found someone who cared about her.” Jack fired back, pulling Jenniffer into his arms, rubbing his hand up and down her back in comfort.
“They didn’t just loose Jeff, they also lost Jenniffer since she never calls them or writes them. They actually cared about her as if she was their daughter.” Miller fired back, glaring at Jack.
“Jesus christ, why don’t you piss on her leg, dude. Seriously? She’s not a fucking rag doll to fight over, she’s a human being, now move your big ass out of my way or I’ll move it for you!” Pratt demanded, announcing her arrival with three of the dogs she took home with her in tow. “Hey doll, these three lug heads are here for training day. Need me to drive you to the vets while these two meat heads duke it out? Or want me to ring Raso and the rest of the team to bring baby oil, beer and popcorn so we can make these two strip down, oil it up and wrestle on the front lawn?”
“I’m sorry? You’re not my type!” Miller glared at Pratt, disgust on his face.
“Never said you were mine either, dumbass. I was suggesting the baby oil so that it would even shit out. My money would be on Jack kicking your ass!” Pratt fired, back never missing a beat.
Jack laughed as he pulled Pratt into the house, letting the dogs follow her in when they started to growl at the man in the doorway. “You’re a bigger brat. I think I’m going to have to keep you away from my girl so you’re not teaching her shit!”
Pratt laughed an evil laugh that even caused Jenniffer to chuckle. “Dude, something tells me that girl already has being a brat down pat. She could probably teach me a thing or two.”
“Don’t make me call your husband!” Jack mock glared at Pratt who high-fived Jenniffer, ignoring the man in the doorway on purpose.
“Ha, he’ll probably bring the beer and cheer you on.” Pratt laughed, winking over at Jack. “Now, the reason I’m here. I need some stuff for these heathens since I’m taking them to work with me if they aren’t needed for training today.”
“Oh, they can stay here…” Jenniffer started before Pratt moved on past her, not waiting for an answer.
“Nope. You have shit to do today! You need to go check on Zorro and Ajax. Raso is brining Kane and the other two in with her to work. I have a feeling she’s gonna try and ask you how much for him if he’s not spoken for. Marcus told Highlander a little bit ago that she’s in love with that dog. Apparently, he slept by Izzy’s bed all night, staying near her. That’s her six-month-old daughter. I think Izzy is in love with Kane also.”
Jenniffer laughed, loving how much her dogs are being loved by people she’d only met a few hours ago on the second, or is it third, worst night of her life. “Kane is actually slated to go to the Sheriff’s Department, same as Zorro and Ajax.”
“I’ll look into that then.” Pratt said waving her hand. “Anyways, I have permission from the captain to bring in Rocky, Zeus and Demon. Can I just say I am in love with Demon. That dog smiles and he looks like he’s ready to eat your soul with it. Paired with those ice blue eyes…holy shit.”
CHAPTERELEVEN
Jack couldn’t help but laugh as Pratt just plowed through Jenniffer with her suggestions. He knew it was wrong of him, but he knew what Pratt was doing. She was taking Jenniffer’s mind off of whatever was floating in her head, and for that alone, forget what she’s done for him in the past, this alone, he would always be indebted to this woman.
“Hello! I’m still standing here, damn it!” Miller yelled out, causing Jenniffer to jump.
