“Doesn’t Kaitielyne have a call sign?” Ash asked, curiously looking at his brothers when they looked at each other with a smirk.
“Aye, pretty much the same we called her here when she was a wee brat.” Mike laughed, shaking his head.
Ash laughed at Mike’s statement. “Ah, Hurricane Kaitielyne. I’m afraid to ask how she got her nickname since the military gives us those names.”
“The crazy bitch landed her helo under fire to get a group of Marine Raiders out of danger. Two of the Marines had been wounded, if she hadn’t done what she did, one of the injured Marines would have died. He’s the one that called her Hurricane Kaitie.” Highlander advised his brother. “It was Marcus’s team.”
“Shite!” Ash mumbled, rubbing his face with his hands.
“Is everything ok lads?” Will Sr asked, walking up on the three men.
“Aye. Mike and Joe were just telling me how Kaitielyne kept her nickname with the Marines.” Ash answered his father, as he turned to face him.
“Ah, aye! Ye brother was fit to be tied when that happened. Called me, demanding I talk with ye sister about putting herself in danger. That didn’t go over well. I’ve heard ye mum madder than a drunken coo but ye sister outdid her in that area. I only asked if she was ok and told them to deal with it. She reminded ye brother that his two teammates are still alive because of her actions.”
The three men laughed as they listened to their father talk about the phone call they received from their brother Marcus. The four men stood around, quietly just in the presence of each other’s company.
“Ye ok son? I know everyone being here is hard for ye. Anything I can do?” Will Sr asked quietly, studying Ash.
“I’m ok da. I just needed some fresh air.” Ash responded, shuffling from foot to foot, his hands in his pockets.
TEN
Will Sr looked at his three sons. They were tall, ranging from six foot two to six foot five. They got the height from his side of the family for sure. All three men were well built, muscular, tattooed gods. Mike and Highlander with their military haircuts, keeping their blue-black hair cut short and close to the scalp. Ash’s hair was long, down to his shoulders, currently tied at the nape with a hair tie, to please his mum.
Sr. knew that the military was good for his boys, but he also knew it took a part of your soul with the shit that they see. He had his own demons that he faced at well. He worried about his sons and the demons they dealt with. Sr knew that times have changed, monsters have adapted and gotten worse with the things they do to people. Now his sons were seeing the worst of humanity.
“Hey da, any way to have Polin checked to make sure he’s really related to us? I think ye and mum brought the wrong arsehole home from the hospital.” Mike asked, stepping back behind Highlander and Ash as his da glared at him.
“Unfortunately, I know Polin is ours. He takes after ye mum’s side of the family, sadly. But he’s a hard worker here on the land.” Sr defended his eldest son.
“Felicity is another story. That one is a gold digger, more proof he’s a wanker.” Ash stated agreeing with his younger brother.
“Aye, which is why ye mum and I have safety procedures in place when it comes to Polin’s portion of the inheritance he will receive. Since I know how she is, I have the same security features in place when all ye are married.” Sr announced to his three sons.
“Da, I can tell ye, Laura doesn’t care about that. Hell, she doesn’t even know how much money ye and mum are worth.” Highlander said, defending his wife’s honor. “I can also vouch for Lindsey also.”
“Does she know what ye are worth right now?” Ash asked, cocking an eyebrow at Highlander. “Do either of the lasses know what ye two are worth right now?”
“I can’t speak for Marcus on his lass, but aye, mine does. She actually ended our relationship until I agreed to sign some bullshite paperwork from her attorney that stated she had no access to the money, anything I would have left her goes to our children in a trust Basically the same thing da has for us. Even our wee ones are protected from them being able to access the funds unless it’s for the children’s use.”
“Smart lass.” Mike stated, smirking over at his brother.
“Aye that my lass is.” Highlander agreed, looking back at their father.
“Lindsey too. She made me do the same thing.” Marcus stated, joining the group. “Sorry, mum got worried when da walked out here and no one came back in.”
“Sorry, we’re talking about Polin and Felicity.” Mike advised the newest member of the group.
“Ah, so because of the gold digger, we have to make sure the other spouses are not gold diggers too, eh?” Marcus surmised, looking around at the others. “My lass, and I know Laura, are not gold diggers. Those two lasses get pissed if Highlander or I even try to sneak extra money in their accounts. They won’t even get a joint checking account with us because they don’t want to accidently use the money that might be from the family.”
“Ye mum and I know that lads. We actually love ye lasses as if they are our own daughters. Unfortunately, we have to protect ye boys because of a few bad ones.” Will Sr stated, sighing deeply. “Felicity isn’t the only bad apple ye boys have brought into this family. Jr is paying for the tart he married. She tried to get her hand in the family pie, when she failed, she now keeps the children away unless we pay her for the visits. Those wee ones are suffering, they miss their da, and she could care less.”
“I thought Jr was going to go for custody? He has plenty of evidence against her to win.” Ash said in confusion.
“Madeline moved out of the area. She’s now in Glasgow.” Will Sr told his boys.
“Good. Then Catherine can nab her arse.” Highlander quipped, clapping his hands before rubbing them together.
