“William!” Highlander corrected his son.
“But she called me stinky da!”
Squatting down to his son’s level, he pulled the boy over to him. “It doesn’t matter if she called ye stinky. Ye do not put ye hands on a girl in anger, ever.”
“But you put your hands on mum all the time!” Willy protested, stomping his foot on the floor, causing the others to bite the inside of their cheeks to hide their laughter.
Highlander looked at his young son in confusion. “Son, I’ve never hit ye mum in anger or in front of ye children…”
“You spank mom’s butt all the time.”
“Oh shit, he called you out dude!” Cheryl Diesel laughed, walking into the kitchen.
“Diesel!” Laura warned her teammate, shaking her head.
“William, your father has never hit me in anger. Your dad pats mommy on the rear when we’re talking or laughing. He’s not hitting me like you were getting ready to do with your sister because she upset you.” Laura informed her youngest son, squatting down next to Highlander.
William looked at his father in confusion. “But what about when mum is being mean or yells at you, da. Don’t you hit her then to teach her a lesson?”
“Where the he…” Highlander had to stop, pinching the bridge of his nose as he counted to three. “Son, where did ye hear nonsense like that?”
“There’s a boy at our school daddy. He’s always telling the other boys that girls need to be put in their place. He’s been in trouble lots of time at school for hitting me or the other girls if we don’t give him our toys, our lunches or do what he says.” Ryleigh told her parents, hiding behind Snake when her little brother glared at her for tattling.
“Son…” Highlander started to say.
“Bobby Jenkins says his da does it all the time to his mum. That his mum is always being bad and his da has to punish her for not obeying his rules. That all women have to be punished for being bad.”
“William, that is not true. A real man does not harm a woman. Yes, ye mum may make me mad at times, and I know I can make ye mum mad at times too. But we have never laid a hand on each other, ever. Only cowards harm a woman!”
“I’ll call sarge and have her look into it.” York informed everyone stepping out of the room.
Mac clapped his hands, trying to break the tension in the room. “Who’s ready to hit the road?”
William and Ryleigh squealed in excitement as they ran to their rooms to get their things and get their older brother. Laura and Highlander shared a look, shaking their heads.
“Ye ok lass?”
“Yeah, I never really thought about having to sit the kids down to really talk to them this young about stuff like that. I thought it was more the boys or girls have cooties stuff.”
“Well boys, and men have cooties.” Diesel quipped, glaring at Sammy ‘Joker’ Jones as he walked into the house.
“Please, you wish I would kiss your ass. Sorry, but I only kiss one girl at a time and it’s just not your time, princess.”
“Well, not like your warty ass would turn into a prince if I did, so I’d definitely not be kissing you, toad boy!” Diesel fired back.
“Seriously?” Laura asked her husband, her hand throwing up towards Diesel and Joker.
Highlander chuckled as he pulled his wife into his arms, kissing her passionately in front of their friends. “That should tide ye over until we stop for gas in a few hours.” Lowering his voice as he lowered his mouth to her ear. “I already fed ye greedy pussy last night and this morning. I’ll feed it my tongue and cock later tonight when we get to Salt Lake.”
Laura laughed as she pulled away, giving Highlander a mock glare. “You’re lucky I love you as much as I do or I’d make you pay for this when we do get to Salt Lake.”
“Ahhh lass, a threat like that…” Highlander started to say until the kids ran back into the kitchen screaming that they were ready.
Laura laughed as she pulled away from her husband, ushering everyone out of the room so they could get the vehicles loaded and on the road. Yep, it was definitely going to be a long day.
“Sucks that Raso, Brocard and Rameriez couldn’t go with us.” York said, looking out the window of the front seat as Laura drove their Suburban.
“Yeah, Ty got sick. When he gets sick, the ex refuses to take him, even if it’s his weekend to get him.”
