“Are you doing okay, Mr. Dax?”
He smiled and nodded. Dax seemed to be in better spirits these days. Bria wanted to attribute that to repairing his relationship with Lo, but she wasn’t certain.
“I’m good, Bri-Bri,” he joked.
“Don't let your son hear that,” she teased. “You know he banned everybody from calling me that.”
He chuckled. “I ain't worried about Lo. He can’t whoop my ass.”
Bria chortled and continued her quest to Lo. The backyard seemed to be where most of the younger people were. Spotting Lo by the patio surrounded by his brothers and cousins, she smiled at the impassive expression on his face. Rarely did he smile and when he did, it was always due to her or their boys.
Before she could make it to Lo, Ada sashayed toward her with a drink in her hand.
“Hey, my favorite girl,” she drawled, tipsy as hell. “Did the studio come out like you wanted?”
“Yeah, it’s really nice. I can’t wait for you to see it.”
“Oh, girl, I already got my outfit laid out.” She shimmied before bending down to kiss the boys on their forehead. “You know you're granny’s babies, okay?”
They jumped up and down before Ada salsa danced toward the pool. Bria ambled toward the patio.
Lo’s gaze caught Bria as she walked up to him. He opened his arms, and she fell into his embrace.
“You had another ten minutes to get here before I came to find you,” he whispered before kissing her lips.
“You're so predictable.” She playfully rolled her eyes. “You’ve been letting these boys knock over Tori’s plants. Why aren’t you watching them?”
“I have been watching them. They just do what they want. Right?” He extended his hand to Koda who slapped it. Then Dallas gave him a five.
“You can’t let them destroy people’s house, Lo,” Bria fussed.
“My kids can do what the fuck they want, especially around here.”
Devyn cut his eyes at him. “Man, I’ll have Demir come over here and check both of they bad asses.”
Bria laughed. “Don't do that. They're only two, Devyn.”
He shrugged, “So.”
“And when you do that, I’ma check your stuck-up ass,” Lo threatened.
Devyn flicked his hand dismissively.
“Hey, Meco, where’s Kaylona?” Bria asked.
“She had a show. She’ll be back tomorrow.”
Over the years, Bria, Tori, and Kaylona had grown such a tight bond. She felt as if she had another set of sisters she could run to. Being married to the Crown men were no easy feat. Bria was relieved she had someone she could relate to when she navigated through murky waters with Lo.
“How did everything look?” Lo asked, referring to the studio.
“Oh, it was good. Thank you for being my enforcer. You really came through for me.”
Lo kissed her cheek. “You know I don't fuck around when it comes to you.”
Bria looked around the backyard and spotted Ada stepping with a drink in her hand. The moment made her smile because she knew how happy Ada had been since she and Lo reconciled.
“Let’s sneak out of here,” Lo murmured.
