"What else, Cora?"
She swallows hard. "I...I can hear two heart beats when she's around. I see the change in her light, hear the two strong heartbeats and well, I guess that's it."
"No it isn’t." I give her hand a gentle squeeze. "Continue, my love. Please."
"Well...I...so you know how I told you that as I came into contact with everybody I'd remember things about them from before, see my memories of our relationship?"
We all nod, my eyes glued to her face.
"That wasn't really everything."
I frown and try to swallow but my mouth is too dry. "No?"
She shakes her head. "I saw their entire lives to a degree. I saw everything that had happened to them from the time I moved to Ashland all the way back to when..." Cora sighs. "To when I first knew them. I saw almost three hundred years of life that I missed out on and had absolutely no knowledge of, then I saw everything else."
"Remarkable!" Henrich leans toward her. "So you saw everything about our time apart as well as prior to that just as if you had lived it?"
Cora nods.
"With Havok as well?"
She shakes her head.
Which I am totally ok with.
We've discussed at length how I spent our time apart and I am instantly grateful she could not see how much of a mess I truly was.
"So only with us?"
"The girls, Hank, the other shifters. Pretty much everyone I've met since being here but it wasn't as impactful because we didn't have a previous relationship."
"And did this all intensify after Havok fed? Has it only been going on since you arrived in Ashland?"
Cora shakes her head.
"So you were able to see others’ aura, see their histories in your previous lives as well?"
A nod and hard thumb chew.
"Do you remember when it first started? The first time you were able to see into someone's history this way?"
I can hear my light’s heart start to beat rapidly and mine immediately follows suit. Which is when I realize she said she heard two heartbeats when Allie was present. That is impossible for a human, completely impossible unless one’s ear is pressed over said heart and even then there would be only one. That makes no sense but hopefully Henrich made note of it because I can't even address that right now. I've tried so hard to be patient and take things slow with Cora but this particular situation is going to cause an aneurysm.
"When I was three."
I blink.
Andrej blinks.
Henrich blinks.
We share a look.
"Three?" I choke out. "Three years old? As in, three years after you were born? As in 1721?"
She nods.
I slump back into my seat.
