"I feel like there is a lot I need to talk to Havok about when he wakes up."
"You are not wrong, little one.” Kai chuckles. "And if he wasn't so stable at the moment, we wouldn't leave you alone with him but we have other things to attend to."
I cross my arms against my chest and smirk. "Like finding the bastard who did this?" I gesture toward my vampire.
“Exactly." Kai grins a little evilly. "Milos is already searching for him with Hank and Karel."
My eye twitches.
I know that name.
Karel.
"Your uncle?"
Kai nods slowly. "Yes. Our uncle, Karel, as well as my beloved's father, Janet, they all live here with us. You'll find that you know most of our clan already, little one, and once Havok is well, he can show you exactly what we mean when we say that we keep our clan close."
I nod. "I'm sure. I have a feeling there is much that Havok will have to show me." Then I quirk a brow. "Just like you Dragovihk's. You are more than you seem, I have no fucking doubt about that."
"Perceptive little pixie, aren't you?" Henrich smiles. "But all of that can wait until our brother is well. In the meantime, I will return to my clinic and work on a salve to help ease Havok's pain while the others find the one who caused it. Will you be alright here alone for a while?"
Hell yes I will.
And if all goes as planned, Henrich won't need to use that salve.
"I'll be fine. We will be fine. I'll keep an eye out for fever, try to make him comfortable, probably snoop through his things while I wait."
Kai and Henrich laugh as Andrej smiles the biggest I've yet to see. God, I really like them so much.
"Plus, I've got Samson. He can keep me company while I find ways to entertain myself."
“Good." Kai nods. "Do you have a cell phone? In case you need to contact us? Havok's cabin is furthest from the main house so you will need it to communicate."
“Nope." I shake my head. "Part of that whole running scared thing. No cell phone, bank account, nothing traceable."
All three men's brows lift and I giggle. "Once you go down a rabbit hole like I did, you make sure you can't be found too easily. That's why my house is attached to my truck, why I have everything I need with me at all times. It's even why I can hunt for food, replace an alternator, repair a roof, sew or crochet anything you can think of and find natural remedies for most injuries or ailments in nature.” I wink with a grin. "And I'm one hell of a marksman. Paranoia has its perks."
“Remarkable." Henrich grins. "Perceptive, resourceful. You are indeed the perfect match for our dear brother."
I just shrug and pretend like his approval doesn't move me to tears. "What can I say? I'm fucking awesome."
Kai snorts as he and Henrich nod in agreement and Andrej, well his eyes fill with so much warmth, so much… recognition and familiarity it makes my head spin.
"If you need anything, anything at all, use Havok's phone to reach us. We are all in his contacts, our mates are at the main house so if you don't get a response from us right away, feel free to try them,” Henrich says as they start for the door. "I'm afraid Havok has us listed under his idiotic nicknames for us but I'm sure you'll figure out who's who."
Mates?
That is kind of an oddly endearing way to refer to their wives, but I don't question it. I just follow them to the door, say my goodbyes and put that shit on lockdown immediately.
Then I take a deep breath and try to still my now racing heart.
I'm surprisingly not afraid.
I mean, I've never injured myself intentionally, never drawn blood on purpose so I'm a little nervous about piercing my throat. Especially since I have scars there, ones I'm sure came from the man with soulless eyes, but this is different.
So incredibly different.
I lift Havok's shirt—it’s obvious that the black t-shirt is his since it smells like him and almost touches my shins—then pull the dagger from the top of my panties.
