"It is time, my child." He smiles and takes the woman's hand. "Time for you to see beyond, see all. Time for you to take up your sword and fight, use your light to pierce the darkness once and for all."

I can see myself, which is really strange, my tiny body dwarfed by the man but so similar to the woman.

So similar.

Too similar.

And that is the exact moment it hits.

Tolan and Ellida stand before me, smile at me, speak to me, share so many of the same traits I see every day in the mirror.

Tolan and Ellida.

King and Queen.

Father and Mother.

Fae.

"It is true, my child," Ellida says softly. "King and queen, Father and Mother."

"Fae." Tolan holds up his hand to show me his palm, and there in the center is a pale pink angel wing just like mine.

Ellida pulls her hair over one shoulder and tilts her head, the same mark just above her collarbone in the hollow of her throat.

Holy shit.

Tolan laughs, the sound comparable to thunder booming around us. "Nothing holy about this shit I'm afraid. Far from it to be entirely honest."

"Tolan," Ellida, my mother, scolds. "Now is not the time for humor. We have but a small window, we must use it wisely."

He nods and twines their fingers, my chest bursting with so much love I don't even understand it.

"It is our bond, my child." Ellida smiles. "You feel our bond because you were created from it, feel it because we share it with you and in turn you share it with your mate."

My head is spinning.

This is insane.

Maybe I'm insane.

That's it.

Maybe I got so drunk at my party that I blacked out and permanently went nuts.

Wait.

Wait a second.

My party.

Tolan nods. "That is why we are here, my child. Why we are finally able to speak with you after all these years. It is time."

But time for what?

Time for that stupid harpy to stab me, cause yeah, I remember that shit now.

"Time for you to shine your light on the darkness that threatens you and your loved ones."
