Chapter 12

Destiny

Destiny had never been so bold before. Basically, throwing herself at a man was so unlike her. But she’d never met anyone quite like Walker Bennett either. She popped the button on his jeans, and his breath quickened as she slid her hand inside and took hold of him. It was empowering to watch a man like Walker close his eyes in surrender. His need spurred on her own.

He moved into her touch until he stilled her hold and slipped her hand free. He kissed her harder, using his tongue and teeth. His rough hand slid beneath her sweater; the touch cool against her skin. He reached her bra and slipped his hand under the lace before he turned her onto her back. He raised her sweater, and his lips traced a wet path from her navel to her bra. He used his teeth and pulled it down.

She clutched his head, holding him to the spot.

He teased her nipple and took her breast into his mouth.

She moaned at the sensuous pull of his mouth and lifted her chest, giving him better access. He toyed with one before taking the other one with the same enthusiasm.

He disappeared beneath the covers, tracing a slow path down her body. His fingers inched her jeans down her legs. His hot breath caressed her skin, and she shivered in excitement when his tongue reached the spot she wanted him most. Another moan slipped free as her entire body fell into the pleasure and the need. When he slipped a long finger inside of her, and then added a second one, and nibbled on her clit, she bucked against his mouth, wanting everything he was giving.

He worked her to new heights as her eyes closed and her fingers raked his shoulders.

The oncoming orgasm built like a tsunami, taking her higher and higher until she screamed his name and shuddered as his fingers took her over the edge.

Her body turned boneless; her heated breath escaped in pants as his head reappeared from beneath the blanket. He had a smile on his slick lips. He kissed her neck and then got up and went to the backpack, where he produced a hand towel and cleaned her up.

Words had yet to escape her lips as she watched him with utter fascination.

He lay back down with her and pulled her into his arms. “Try and get some rest. We’ve got a long hike tomorrow.”

“I thought….” Her words trailed off. “You didn’t have to.”

He kissed her temple. “When we have sex, it won’t be on a hard, stone floor in the middle of a blizzard. I want to see all of you. Taste all of you, and if I were to do that here, you might get hypothermia.” His lips teased into a bigger smile. “Now, get some rest.”

She fell asleep in the comfort of his arms oblivious to the uncomfortably cold floor, with only body heat and heat from the flames.

* * *

Destiny woketo find Walker standing at the mouth of the cave, looking out into the forest beyond. He was sipping a bottle of water and eating a granola bar.

She sat up and wiped the sleep from her eyes. “You been up long?”

“About an hour when the fire started to die.”

She turned her gaze to the healthy fire and new wood that had been added. “Why didn’t you wake me?”

“I was giving you some extra time until the sun rises and warms a bit.”

She stood and reached for the buttons of her jeans, remembering what she’d started last night. Heat climbed through her body when she lifted her gaze to meet his.

He was watching her, a hesitant smile lifting his lips, studying her as if to trying to decide how she’d react to what they’d done.

“I don’t regret what happened last night. Far from it. I’m looking forward to you in a bed,” she assured him.

Tension drained from his face.

“We’ll barely make it past the door the first time,” he claimed, closing the distance between them. He rested his hand on her cheek and claimed her lips, sealing the promise of more to come.

He pulled back, taking the heat with him. “Good morning.”

She sighed in girly contentment. “Good morning.” Her voice came out barely a whisper.

“Let’s get you hydrated and something to eat while I pack up.”
