“I should get going.” Storm shook his pile of clothes. “Special delivery. Great to see you again, Olson, Rex.”

With a quick salute, he slipped out of the apartment and pulled out his phone.

Storm

Heads up, Olson found me in your apartment. He wasn’t too happy that you didn’t tell him about me.

It took Linus a couple of minutes to reply.

Linus

Oh no

Why were you at the apartment?

Um, how much did you tell him?

Storm

Not that much, just that I’ve been cooking for you and keeping you safe.

I was getting you a change of clothes.

Is this going to cause you a lot of trouble? I’m sorry.

Give me a few minutes to pick up some room spray, and I’ll be there.

Linus didn’t reply. Storm spent the rest of his errand run checking his phone, halfway distracted when he found thehousehold section in the department store. He took a photo of the available sprays and sent it; Linus picked one that would smell like freshly cut grass.

Storm made it back to campus with a few minutes to spare. He grabbed everything and raced through the science faculty building, knocking hurriedly on Linus’ door. “It’s me.”

Linus unlocked the door and peeked out carefully.

“Sorry I’m late.” Storm held out his gifts; Linus opened the door to let him in. “Here, get dressed. I’ll deal with the scents.”

“Thank you.” Linus stripped and squirmed into his clean clothes. Storm pumped every corner of the office with room spray, then sprayed some on himself for good measure.

Linus squawked. “You sprayed yourself too?”

“Why not?” Storm grinned. “I probably—Crap. Do you think Olson smelled your heat on me?”

They stared at each other, horrified.

“I... don’t know,” Linus said slowly. “He didn’t mention it?”

Storm shook his head. “Maybe the scent suppressant got on me and it was enough. Fingers crossed.”

Linus rubbed his face. “I was trying to avoid a lecture from him. Maybe I still can.”

Storm rounded the desk to crowd close to his omega. At his proximity, Linus looked up, a little wide-eyed.

“You okay?” Storm murmured, trailing his knuckles along Linus’ jaw. “I never thought I would pull a fuck-and-run, especially during your heat, but we really needed the clothes and spray. And I would love to stick around now, but I don’t know if it would be weird for your students to find me here.”

“You can work on the couch,” Linus said. “I think... I think it would be nice to have you around.”

Storm’s heart could’ve burst. “Couch it is.”

He pulled out his laptop and got settled on the far end of the couch, watching as Linus opened his office door.
