He could call 911. If he stayed absolutely still and whispered into the phone, maybe the invader might not even realize something was wrong until the police had arrived.

Then he thought of Storm.

If someone makes you feel unsafe, you’ll tell me immediately. Alright? No matter where you are, I’ll come over and make sure you’re safe.

Would Storm arrive in time, though?

Under the sheets, Linus brought his phone close to his face, enough that he could read the screen. Then he opened his chat with Storm.

Linus

Storm? Are you there?

He thought he heard a buzz.

A moment later, some dots appeared on the chat.

Storm

What’s up?

Linus

I think someone broke into my apartment. I’m scared

Another faint buzz. Then, a sharp breath.

There was definitely a stranger under his bed.Oh, gods.

The stranger began shuffling. There wasn’t enough time for Storm to get here; Linus could be attacked in the next fewseconds.

Then a head popped up next to the bed. Linus screamed.

The head whipped around. “Where’s the intruder?”

The alpha’s face was blurry, but there was something white covering his nose.

Bandages?

Linus fumbled for his glasses and shoved them onto his face.

Storm stared back at him.

“W-what?” Linus said weakly, at the same time relief rushed through him. “What were you doing under my bed?”

Storm frowned and glanced at the bedroom door. “No time for that. Where’s the intruder?”

“It’s you!” Linus cried. “I heard something under my bed!”

Storm’s eyes widened. “... Oh.” He glanced at the bedroom door again, then back at Linus. Suddenly, he looked extremely sheepish. “Sorry. I thought... It would be easier to protect you if I was nearby.”

“I thought you went home last night!”

“I... did.” Storm shrugged uneasily. “I came back.”

Linus blinked several times, trying to process that. Storm rubbed his eyes and yawned.

“Were you sleeping under my bed?”
