“With your hands, idiot,” Rachel growls.

“I’m going to pop some popcorn, does anyone want some?” Trent asks.

“Trent!” My mother scolds and hits his shoulder.

“I can’t believe I let you take my first kiss.” Rachel is sobbing now.

Sean freezes. “That was your first?” He looks absolutely horrified, and I almost feel bad for him.

But not bad enough to butt in. He totally had this coming.

“Wow, this just gets better and better.” Grant laughs beside me.

I hope I don’t regret my first kiss. I inhale, and Grant’s cologne momentarily paralyzes me. If my first kiss is with him, I won’t regret anything.

“I never want to see you again,” Rachel cries. I must have zoned out because now she has the snake back in her bag, at least I hope so, and is walking toward the door.

“You and me both,” Sean grunts.

“Sean Bentley, you walk that woman to her car right now.” My mom reprimands him, and he scampers off.

The minute he’s out of the room, everyone laughs.

“Good thing we got that out of the way tonight.” My dad sighs and wipes his forehead.

“I don’t know. I would have paid to see that at the party,” Grant whispers to me. His breath tickles my neck and it does all kinds of ridiculous things to my insides.

“He’s still got time. Maybe he’ll show up with someone better,” I say.

“I don’t think that can be topped,” he says, a twinkle in his eye.

“Want to bet on it?”

Chapter 15

Grant

I spot Sean the moment I walk into work the next day.

“Don’t even start,” he warns.

Was the smile on my face that evident?

“Start what? I was just wondering who gave you a kiss last night? Rachel or the snake.”

He jumps on me, trying to put me into a headlock.

“Shut your face,” he says and only manages to get my neck because I’m laughing so hard.

“Someone’s throwing a hissy fit,” I say, and his arm gets tighter. I can’t stop, though.

“You cannot tell anyone about this.” He’s got me good now, so I have to stop laughing to get air.

Johnathon walks in and eyes us. “Isn’t it a little early to be fighting over toys?”

“Don’t.” Sean warns me.

“Sean’s dating a snake.”
