Blessyn slapped me across my face and stormed off to the kitchen. Merci grabbed my niece and went to look through the things I had bought. I went to the kitchen to explain myself.

“Don’t you ever call me a fuckin’ bitch again.” Blessyn mushed me in my face.

“I wasn’t saying it like that. You took it wrong and I’m sorry. But goddamn you making it seem like my niece being here is an issue. She was in foster care Blessyn. Her siblings are still thereand the caseworker said that they will remain there because they don’t have family. Why would I leave my niece in that shit? I am my brother’s keeper. Whatever belongs to him, belongs to me.”

“You’re right. My bad.”

“I’m sorry for not talking to you about it. You ain’t talking to me on that level anyway so I thought it was cool. If we get on your nerves, we’ll leave.”

“I’m sure she’ll be fine. Maybe she can keep me company while you’re gone all day doing lord knows what.”

“Was that a shot? If you want some dick all you gotta do is ask. I’ll fuck you right here, wassup?”

“Bye Lucky.”

Imade sure I was pretty as fuck before I headed to the jail to see Perc. My new wig that I installed was flowing like water all the way down to my ass. The light blonde streaks I added to the front made my bright skin glow. Since I lost my baby, I had lost all my baby fat and was slimming back down to my normal size. I made sure not to put on anything too revealing that would stop me from making it through.

My heart was racing as I pulled up to the jail. This was not how I wanted to see him but I had some shit get off my chest and I’m sure he did too. I went through the process of getting in and took a seat at the table to wait for him. The thick glass that separated everyone from their loved ones was intimidating. Perc came walking towards me in chains. He had lost some weightbut overall, he looked good. As soon as his ass touched the seat, I snatched the phone up and waited for him to pick up.

“You look good as fuck,” Perc licked his lips and stood up to get a better look.

“How you been in here?”

“I’m straight. Nothing to worry ‘bout. Just ready to get home to you, that’s all.”

“About that…we can’t be together.”

“Merci go ‘head on with that shit. I don’t need any negative shit right now. Let me think in my muthafuckin’ mind that when I get out of here, I can be with my baby mama. Have you seen my baby?”

“Yeah, I had her yesterday. She’s doing good and Lucky is making sure she is taken care of.”

“That’s all a nigga like to hear. I appreciate you for coming down here to see me. Do you need anything?”

“How you asking me if I need anything and you in here?”

“’Cause I can still give you what you need in here.”

“I’m good Perc. Do you need anything?”

“Besides you and my daughter, no. Have you went back in the shop yet?”

“No, you haven’t heard?”

“I ain’t heard shit. What the fuck going on?”

“Blessyn got robbed at gunpoint.”

Perc slammed his phone up against the glass causing me to jump. “These niggas think shit is sweet out here ‘cause I’m locked up. They know not to try no fuckin’ shit like that when I’m up there.”

“She’s good and Lucky is handling everything.”

“I gotta get the fuck up outta here.”

“Perc I don’t wanna upset you but if you plan on being with me, you gotta make some major changes. I don’t want the street you anymore. A lot of people are getting hurt and I feel likeit’s because of the shit you be in. Your mom, my sister, and my daughter. Like when is enough, enough? I don’t want to be out with you and have to look around in fear. While you in here, you really need to sit and think about your life. If you want me when you get out, think about what I just said.”

“I got you, baby.”

“Hold your head up and we got you on the outside. We’ll see you soon.”
