Page 55 of Generation Omega: Revealed
He lets out a rueful laugh. “He started withPrince of Darkness, but eventually shared that his name is Kazimir Volkov.”
Gideon’s energy darkens but his attention remains on touching me, my face, my neck, my arms. Tension grows in him as he fights powerful urges to take things further. I wouldn’t say no—I don’t think I could—but that’s unsettling too, because we aren’t there yet.
“What else?” I push in a breathy, slightly desperate whisper.
He squeezes his eyes shut and pulls his hands away from me. I leave mine where they are.
“I don’t know whether I should share more.” His purr seems to reverberate through my fingers, arms, and then my entire body.
“Why wouldn’t you?” I accidentally brush my fingertips over his full lips.
He nibbles lightly on the tip of one finger. “Because he’s part of our lives now. The omega legacy chose him and doing anything, sharinganything, that will make things harder for you… I’m trying to navigate my role here, and I’m not sure how to do that yet.”
“What do your instincts say?”
“About this, they’re at war with themselves, so I put them in time-out. The gist is, I’m never supposed to betray you or give you any reason to doubt me, while at the same time, I’m supposed to build our pack that includeskillerKazimir. Easy-peasy, huh?”
I don’t just hear what he said, but what lies beneath—what he thinks I should know. My emotions surge like a sudden storm, Tillie and my omega entering the ring. “This legacy can’t make me bang a killer, and that’s what he is. He’s a killer—anomegakiller. He was there to kill us, and the only reason he didn’t was because he got caught in the same omegaverse web that snatched us from our lives.”
The intensity of my feelings about Kazimir creates an ache in my bones, but it’s my heart that beats a drum, alerting me to the hole the killer is supposed to fill inside me.Not today, Satanverse—not today.
Now that I’m riled up, I can’t stop. I can’t surrender this round. “I’m glad he saved Ethan and, as soon as Ethan’s back with us, I’m going to kill the omega killer. This omega isn’t going to play nicely with murderers. Maybe he’ll be powerless to hurt me, which makes me the best person in the world to end him. He certainly doesn’t deserve to live after all he’s done.”
Gideon’s dark eyes fill with concern and understanding. He’s not judging me and I’m sure he feels my heart’s unsteady beats, my body rejecting all the pushy guidance telling me that my new murder goals are unacceptable. But hey, if the legacy wanted an obedient omega, it shouldn’t have chosen me.
“I get what you’re saying, but where in all the omega legends does it say that omegas are meant to be killers?”
Fair point, but nope. “Maybe it’s a new thing for a new age. The sweeter side of omegas got them killed. It’s time for some stabby omegas to take over this place.”
He smiles and leans closer, brushing his nose against my forehead while inhaling deeply. “That does sound intriguing.” Then he groans and pulls back. “I’m not going to argue this right now, or bark at you, but we’re trusting the legacy until it gives us a reason not to and that includes Kazimir Volkov. He could be the key to our survival. He knows our enemies.”
“Heisour enemy!”
“Exactly,” Gideon says, as though I made his case. “Remember when I played that soldier who was secretly an agent for the other side and almost got killed by his own sister, when he was actually trying to save her?”
I sigh. “Ilovethat movie. When she knew you were true and you reunited in your hometown… oh, that was the best.”
“See? Not everything is what it seems and, for right now, Kazimir is oursecret agentman. He knows the enemy and he’s compelled to help us, and he’s the only one who can help Ethan right now. So, we’re tabling the stabby, feral omega business for a bit.”
“Fine, for now, but later…” I grin maniacally and jab at him with my imaginary knife. Then, to change the direction of my own surly thoughts, I blurt, “I do want to see your knot—is that weird?”
He snorts, wearing an adorable grin, clearly grateful I’m easing back from the edge. “I think it would be weird if you weren’t curious, and honestly, so am I. I haven’t seen it yet.”
“You haven’t?”
“No, and I don’t think it’s fullyinflated—wow, does that not sound sexy—so I’m guessing that having an erection doesn’t automatically involve my knot getting feisty.” His dimples appear. “Is there aSex Tips for New Alphasinstructional guide we could order? Because that would be super helpful.”
Blushing like an overripe tomato, mysultrymakes a surprise return. “I think it will be more fun and much sexier to figure it out ourselves.”
His purr ramps up and his eyes spark with barely restrained desire. “Nowthatsounds amazing.”
The phone buzzes and I pounce on it like a cat on a cricket. “Ethan, are you okay?”
“Hey, Till.” He sounds awful, groggy and pained. “How are you?”
“I’mfine. I want to know about you.”
Gideon squeezes my hand and steels himself before moving away from me. He grimaces as he settles into the discomfort of having any distance between us. “I’m going to fix us some breakfast or lunch. Let me know if you need anything.”
