James stood beside him, being restrained by a Keeper I recognized as Hayden.

At the sound of my arrival, Travis turned to face me. The smile he gave me made my heart run cold. I didn't want to even think about what he had in store for us.

Harrison stood beside me, and Flynn dropped his hold from my wrist as he surveyed the scene.

I could handle what they were going to do to me, I had even prepared myself, but I was the only person who would have to sacrifice anything. And now here I stood with three other people. One was a father I never knew was still alive, one was a friend that I had known most of my life and one was the person whom I loved above everyone else in the world—my mate.

In my mind I was already figuring out what this meant for all of us. They would all die with me and that was something I struggled to comprehend or accept.

"Kyle," I said, his name breaking from my lips.

His eyes connected with mine. "Crys." There was relief, love, mixed with fear and anger.

I'm so sorry, I said through our mind-link.

He closed his eyes briefly like he was savoring our connection. There is no way out.

I know.A soul-wrenching sadness seeped into me.

When his eyes opened again I could see the same emotion in his. My lip trembled as my eyes held familiar gray ones. He looked so defiant. The wind blew his hair across his forehead and his jaw tightened slightly. His jaw looked a little swollen.

"This is going to be interesting," Travis said, cutting across our moment, bringing the reality back to us. I looked at him with the hatred he deserved.

"It's been fun waiting for you to finish your talk but now we can get right to it," Travis said, turning his back to Kyle and walking to me.

"What have you got to tell me?" Travis asked, stopping in front of Flynn.

"He's a traitor," he said, looking at Harrison.

It was heartbreaking that they were going to kill my father for simply following his destiny of falling in love with my mother. They were going to kill me because I was a result of that.

"Really?" Travis asked, looking surprised as he stepped in front of my father.

Harrison refused to say a word but he took my hand in his.

What's going on?Kyle asked, his eyes narrowing at my hand in Harrison's.

Before I could answer him, Travis cut in.

"What is this?" he asked, looking at our connected hands.

"Sheis his daughter," Flynn revealed, a look of disgust following. There, my secret was out, there was no going back.

He's your father?Kyle looked as shocked as everyone else.

Yes,I confirmed with a slight nod.

"You will take responsibility for your actions," Travis said. His features hardened, but Harrison gave him no reaction.

My father looked at me instead. There was a look in his eyes that was filled with love. It amplified my sadness. I gripped his hand tighter.

Even though the odds in our favor had improved, it wasn't enough. Me, one Keeper and two werewolves weren't enough to fight off six Keepers.

The presence of Kyle and James was only going to increase the death toll.

Flynn stepped back from Harrison and moved to stand beside Travis. He was making it clear his allegiance was with the Keepers. Like Harrison had said, one day he would discover how inaccurate his beliefs were but by then it would be too late for us.

Kyle got to his feet and Hayden released James. Flynn motioned for Harrison and me to join them.
