He smiled and chuckled. “Remember when you mentioned Jockey sent you underwear? Think I could get a pair? I wanted to put clean ones on. I’ve left evidence of my attraction to you in the pair I wore here.”
“Yes. I will leave a new package in front of the bathroom door. You can go into my office and help yourself to whatever you want. You don’t have to ask.” I wondered why he hadn’t done that in the first place.
“I wanted to respect your space. Can I get another of your t-shirts if it wouldn’t be too much trouble?”
“Of course, I’ll get those for you and leave them for you outside the bathroom door.”
“You can leave them on the counter in the bathroom if you want.” Raising his eyebrow, teasing me. I loved it.
“Maybe I will do just that then.” I smiled and walked into the office. He walked back into the bathroom and closed the door. I found a black Hot Shots T-shirt that might be a bit tight. I grabbed a package of boxer briefs.
Standing by the bathroom door, I considered my options. I could set these things outside the door like I initially said, but he offered, even suggested I put it on the counter where he was completely naked andwet. Screw it. I had to see, so I opened the door and gasped. He was facing toward the wall; I couldn’t help but stare at the taut muscles on his back as he washed his hair. His ass was perfect globes of muscle. Everything flexed as he bent over and washed his legs. My cock started to ache as I stood there gawking at him. I watched water run down his skin over tattoos I hadn’t seen. I wanted to trace those tattoos with my fingers, lips, and tongue. I knew he wouldn't push me away if I climbed in the shower.
I took one step forward. I couldn't take it any longer. I needed to wrap my arms around Aaron’s body and touch every hard curve. I stopped. Knowing I liked that we weren’t letting sex get in the way of our attraction. I liked him not because he made my head spin with lust but because he was a fantastic guy with so many things to offer, and he was getting to know me.
I turned around as I reached for the doorknob. I heard behind me. “Like what you see?”
“More than toaster pastries.” I opened the door and walked out.
I made scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage. He came up behind me, setting his chin on my shoulder. “Can I help?”
I liked having him in my space, making breakfast, and waking up with him. “Nope. Just finished.” I grabbed the plates. “You can get forks and napkins.” I didn’t feel the need to talk while we ate, never feeling awkward because there was contentment between us.
“I should probably go get some work done. I have a half day tomorrow. I must get pretty for my date.” He winked at me as he stood up and took my plate.
“I have seen you. You are the prettiest thing I have ever seen.”
“Better than toaster pastries, I’ve been told.” He looked at me, his eyes lit up.
“Do you know how much I like them? That’s a high compliment.” I poked him as he walked by.
“I am quite aware.” Setting the plates down and hauling me up to him. “For the record, I think you are incredibly pretty yourself.” His lips touched mine, and I melted. There was passion and promise in his kiss. When he stopped, I missed him instantly, and I watched while he put on his jacket, which looked incredible.
“Daisy, let's go. You can come back and play tomorrow.” He put her harness on.
I grabbed his arm at the elevator and turned him back towards me. I clutched the back of his head and slammed our mouths together. I channeled everything I felt in this moment. He kissed me back with just as much ferocity. “I’ll see you tomorrow. The thought of you in a tuxedo must get me through the day.” He raised his eyebrow at me and gave me a full grin.
Chapter eighteen
Aaron
Other than half a dozen exceptions, I had gotten up and gone to work for fifteen years. I loved my work. I had built two extraordinarily successful companies and had employees I enjoyed spending time with. There was enough diversity between the businesses that I didn’t find myself bored. I was honestly at a point where I could choose the things I wanted to do. I was more than happy with my career.
Today was different. I didn’t want to leave River. I wanted to sit on the couch, watch romantic comedies, eat crappy food, and cuddle. When did I become a cuddler? I’ve never been one to hold someone all night. Here I am, though, wanting to do that precisely. The sexual chemistry between us was ridiculous; we would be creating fireworks when we gave each other our bodies, but there is so much more. I liked his energy, sense of humor, and how he sometimes got awkward and shy, which turned me on. However, he was confident and sure of himself, which also turned me on.
I considered the three-date rule. I wanted to see what happened, and I realized how much I missed in the past. Stephen and I had a good relationship, I thought. We didn’t fight. There were lovely dinners together, and we would sit on the couch with our laptops and work. It was nice and comfortable. I realized there were many things I had missed with Stephen. I could already see that after the last few dayswith River. I was catching feelings for him, which scared me in many ways.
When I got to the office, Sarah was already in. It was 8:30 a.m., and I was usually two hours in by this time. I opened the door, ready to hear the teasing and questions. Sarah turned and looked at me. “Good morning, little brother.”
She then turned back to her work. I was suspicious. “Is Rose here?”
“Yeah, in the back room.” She stood up, opened the back-room door, and called Rose to her. “Do you want to play with Daisy?”
I unclipped Daisy’s leash but left her harness on. “Go play, Daisy.” They started flying the length of the trailer, chasing each other. We both started to laugh.
The back room was technically supposed to be an office for me, but I preferred to sit up front with Sarah when I worked from here. We had a second desk and computer set up in the same room. It also made it easier when I had questions or needed suggestions.
She handed me a stack of manila folders. “These are all the problems that Rodney found in the first 30 units. Most issues are small, but I need you to give a quick overview.”
