“Thank you.” She smiles at me shakily, a tear slipping down her cheek, “I don’t hate her, y’know? I thought I did, but I can’t bring myself to. She was my first friend, but I can’t bring myself to forgive her yet.”

“No one would blame you if you didn’t.”

“Can we keep this between us for now? The guys have Charlie to think about, and I don’t want them to know about it while they are all worked up,” she says, her eyes pleading.

“Of course, what about Brenn?” I ask.

“We’ll tell him. He deserves to know about her coming by. She broke his heart.” She sniffles.

“And now he has me. I’ll stand by him while he processes this, but I’m not going anywhere,” I say sternly.

“Of course not,” she laughs, “Do you think they’ll be much longer?”

“Nah. They’ll be home in no time. Now come on, let’s go for a walk; I want to meet Chlo.”

Chapter 48

Tobias

We’re all coiled tightly in the car, anticipating what’s about to happen.

The others are tense in front, and a glance in the mirror shows that the car behind us follows a few paces behind, but Sebastian and Noah seem to be bonding if the tense looks on their faces are anything to go by.

I recheck my gun for the third time, anxiety getting the better of me as I think of all the possible scenarios that might happen when we get there.

“Think Sebastian is going to kill him for kissing her?” Zander asks from the front seat, his lip quirked up at the side.

“He wouldn’t,” Dominic glares, a new knife from his usual appearing in his hand, “He makes Cupcake happy, so he stays.”

“Yes, yes. Your boyfriend can stay,” Atlas snarks with a laugh, “Now, can we go over everything before we get there?”

We must go over the plan at least three more times before we park in an alley a few streets away from the warehouse, Noah’s car pulling up next to us.

Sebastian gets out, a vein protruding in his neck, and slams the passenger door behind him.

“I swear to God,” he groans.

“Please don’t swear at me,” Noah laughs, joining us.

“You’re not God!” Sebastian bellows, his fists clenching at his side.

“Has he been doing that the entire ride?” I ask, laughing at the thunderous expression on Sebastian's face.

“Yes! I considered jerking the steering wheel so we’d go flying off the road just so it would put me out of my misery,” Sebastian complains, blowing out a deep breath, “How long until Charlie arrives?”

Noah looks at his phone to check the time, “Thirty minutes.”

“Okay, so you all go ahead, get into position around the warehouse, and make sure he can’t spot you as he drives in. We’ll arrive in the next twenty minutes and wait for him,” Sebastian says, his mental checklist a blessing right now.

“Are you covered?” I ask, nodding to his lack of holster.

“It’s tucked under the seat in the back of the car. Easier access if he notices,” he says, tilting his head back towards Noah’s car.

“Are you still ok with this?” Zander asks Noah.

“If you weren’t going to kill him, I would have,” he says, “I know I’m a doctor, but I think I’m going to take Doc up on his offer and work with him for Kelvin. Charlie needs to die for what he’s done to her.”

“Well, ok then,” Atlas mutters, surprised, “Let’s get going then.”
