Wrench smiled at me. “And?”

“I want fucking more.”

“Then fucking go for it.”

I shook my head. “I can’t. She’s my lawyer!”

The prospect playfully pushed me. “And when have you ever followed the rules, Moose? Lily is a fucking catch. Go after what you want.”

“She has too much on her plate. I don’t want to cause any more stress.”

Wrench pushed off the truck. “Man, stop pussyfooting around this. Make a fucking move before somebody else moves in on her.”

Maddox came running over and stopped in front of the prospect.

“Hey, Beckett. Wanna come throw the ball with me?”

“Of course, buddy!”

Maddox tossed him the football, and they walked over to the backyard. I looked at Wrench to see him smiling at them.

“Prospect is good with the kids.”

I chuckled. “Yeah, cause he’s got the same mindset as them.”

Wrench and I laughed as we watched him with Maddox and Nova.

“Nah, he’s making progress, Moose. Changing his ways.”

“That he is. I think Sav set him in his place. Seeing her get hurt last year really got to him.”

He nodded. “Well, she’s like a big sister to him. The kid may act like he doesn’t care, but deep down he’s got a good fucking heart.”

“Bleeding heart.”

“Just like somebody else I know.”

Wrench elbowed me, and we laughed. I looked up to see Lily on her cellphone with a concerned look on her face. She nodded her head, then put it back in her pocket.

I walked over to her with Wrench behind me.

“Everything okay, princess?”

“No. I have to go. There’s a new girl at Hope Hearted and they need me right away. It doesn’t sound good…”

I nodded and whistled toward the Prospect. He came running over.

“Beckett will go with you, okay?”

Lily shook her head. “No. I can go by myself. I don’t want to spook her, Moose.”

“He’s going with you, Lily. He’ll stay far behind and won’t come in. But you can’t be without protection.”

“Fine.” She turned to Beckett. “Let’s go. You can stay outside when we get there, but do not come in.”

He nodded, and they walked to her car together. Lily got in the driver's seat and they took off down the driveway.

Wrench sighed. “I hope everything is okay. The shit those women go through…”
