“Look,” she sighed, leaning forward in her chair, “I know that it wasn’t exactly the right thing to do, but I’ve been trying to get your attention fora year, Liv. Plus, I didn’t send Evan to you on purpose okay. That was a misunderstanding. And the fire was never meant to-”

“Wait,” I held up a hand, cutting her off, “the fire? At the workshop? That was you?”

“Well, yeah. But I never meant for it to catch like it did, it started with the bin out the back and-”

“Stop,” I snapped. “Are you fucking serious? Have you actually lost your mind?”

I could feel the anger deep in my stomach and felt like I was going to be sick, the smug smile on her face only made it worse.

“Why? What is going on with you?”

“Well, ever since you all kicked me out, I made some new friends. And a new boyfriend,” she smiled again, leaning in as if we were friends gossiping.

“Let me guess his name, shall I,” I sighed. “King?”

Her smile only grew.

“I told him about you, you know. He thinks you’d be a great help for some of the work we’re trying to move into.”

I chuckled and shook my head.

“So you lied to me, just two minutes ago, when you said that the fire was an accident.”

“No,” she stood, “it was an accident, Liv. I would never put you in danger like that on purpose. As much as you hate me now, I still consider you my best friend. I just miss you, and I wish you’d give me another chance.”

I shook my head again.

“We’ve already lost Rome to The Family. Now you? What’s going to happen to Lilith’s once it just becomes another outfit of the Santino’s? What was the fucking point? We were supposed to be taking them down, and now, look at all of you,” she gestured up and down my body. “You’re nothing but their little mafia wives who happen to be able to help them get evenmorepower. They’re using you.”

“You have no fucking idea about what’s going down with Lilith’s or any of us, because we don’t want to fucking associate with you, Sierra. Got it?” I snapped.

She pursed her lips and her eyes fell for only a moment.

“You can say whatever you want about The Family, I don’t give a shit. But they would never stab one of their own in the back like you did to us.”

She shook her head, “you don’t see it. None of you do. We were fine before they came into the picture, and now look.”

“Stop trying to shift the blame here, Sierra. We all know what you did, you sold us out and threw us under the bus, and because of that, nearly got us all killed. Without a drop of remorse. For what? Money.”

Sierra scoffed, “everything we do is for money, Liv. Grow up.”

“Not that,” I shook my head, heading towards the door, barging her in the shoulder on my way past, “not that.”

I opened the door wide, and motioned for her to leave, but she only folded her arms across herself and stood her ground.

“I knew Rome was gone from the minute she laid eyes on Toni,” she shook her head, “but you too? For what? The leftover, little brother who doesn’t even want you?” she scoffed again, picking up her handbag and threading it over her arm, lingering in the doorway as she looked me up and down “pathetic.”

Before I knew what was happening, I had slapped her across the face.

Her eyes were wide as she brought her own hand to the side of her cheek where the red mark was forming.

“Bye, Sierra.”

She rolled her eyes and shook her head, stomping out of the door and out into the main part of the club. I followed her, making sure that she was actually leaving, but left a large gap between us.

I swallowed the lump in my throat as I watched her slow as she walked past the stages, looking up at the poles and to the couches that we used to spend most of our lives on.

I tried to push whatever leftover softness I had for her to the side.
