“It felt more like a bonding to me.” Flint stands at the side of the bed, revealing he never took off his pants.
Maybe he’s still shy about his special equipment. I’ll have to ask him about what his comfort levels are in group situations, so no one pushes him.
“Would that be something a lust witch can do?” I ask. “Or a… demon?”
All three guys stare at me in shock, quickly understanding what I’m implying.
Maxum goes unnaturally still. “So, you know?” he asks cautiously.
His guarded behavior unnerves me. I debate for a moment what to say, but I’d rather be honest than skirt around this. If he has a problem with what I am, then we should get to the bottom of it now.
“Uh…” I realize we know nothing for certain. I will need to contact my abuela to know exactly what I am and what happened. I clear my throat and clutch the pillow to my nakedness. “Amira suspects that I might have a bit of demon blood because of the sigils we discovered embedded in me. She also knew my grandmother and said she was a lust witch. That might mean I have some of that sort of magic.”
Maxum reads the worry on my face and quickly races to embrace me, pinning the pillow between us. “Oh, shit. I’m sorry if you thought I’d be upset. I was worried about you. That the news would unsettle you. I’ve suspected the demon part. I sense a little lust witch energy around you. Just a touch, but in all the right ways.” He pulls back and winks at me. Then he caresses my face and kisses me. “Whatever blood you might have, I knowwhoyou are… my loving mate.”
I throw my arms around his waist and bury my face in his chest. “Thank you. But I probably should find out about my family’s past. It’s so odd that I never even considered it before.”
“Not odd at all,” Arran says. “The spell your grandmother put on you masked your presence to authorities, and I believe it probably made you uninterested, so you wouldn’t go digging, either.”
My stomach turns thinking how much I’ve been manipulated and controlled by magic my whole life—mostly because of my grandmother. If she hadn’t put a spell on me, then Rob might not have been able to use me. Or it would have been harder for him to do so. If she only had stuck around or found some fairy godmother to come along and teach me if she was no longeraround, then I could have had my power all this time. But no, I was hobbled and forgotten for decades.
Anger stirs in my heart. Even if her intentions were good, she harmed me.
And now, I’m blindly trying to discover my way and survive.
At least I have my guys. I reach out my hands to both Arran and Flint. For a moment, I fear they won’t take the plea to be close to them. But within seconds, I find that concern is only my programmed bullshit raising its ugly head again.
With help from my guys, I hope to rid myself of the insecurity my mother and my ex created in me. My memories of Rob telling me under the spell over and over a hundred times that I was unlovable, echo in my head.
Tears fall, my mates grasp onto me, blocking out the negative thoughts until they are only a faint whisper.

Ifeel much better after our snuggle session, like I can conquer anything.
I highly recommend monster snuggles. At leastmymonsters. I can’t speak for other monster scenarios. But embracing my demon has been a very therapeutic exercise.
“I need to find Calder,” I say after we get dressed.
“I’m not sure that’s a good idea,” Arran hums. “He likes his alone time to cool down and center.”
Osen’s energy comes forward, and he asks,“May I speak to them for a moment?”
I give him the okay.
His spirit takes over my body. This time it’s different from before. I sense I could claim it back with little effort. Is it because I’m stronger magically? Or is Osen not trying to be as controlling?
“Both, sweet witch,”Osen says in my mind.
Then he addresses the room. The guys all freeze when they see the shift in my presence. Arran told me before that my eyes change from my green eyes to dark shadows of an incubus.
“Osen?” Arran moves to block the exit. He must think Osen is ready to force me to run off again.
“Yes, it’s me. And don’t worry. I asked for permission. Jade is aware of everything that’s happening right now.”
