Zoey: The Lodge.
The Lodge? Why the fuck would she be there? It’s over in the next town, and there is no reason for them to be going on a goddamn jolly right now.
I quickly dial Kurt’s number and wait for him to pick up. Three rings later, I’m about to blow, when he answers.
“Kurt,” I bark sharply. “I need some intel on who the hell is staying at The Lodge.”
He doesn’t speak, but I hear him tapping keys on a keyboard, and I presume he’s looking at security cameras and finding the right one.
“It looks empty,” he says a few moments later as I put him on loudspeaker and place the phone in the car holder. I reverse on the drive and tear down the driveway and to the main road.
“There has to be someone there,” I say, refusing to believe that Zoey and Kat would be going to an abandoned place.
“Seriously, there’s no cars and no movement…” His voice trails off and I sigh as I realise that I’m clearly going to have to wait for answers until I get there.
“Wait a minute,” he says as I hear a few more keys tapping, and I run through a set of red lights because fuck that shit. I’m not waiting for nothing or nobody.
“Shit,” I hear him say down the phone before he sucks in a breath.
“What is it?” I say urgently.
“Jessica.”
“Pardon?”
“It’s Jessica. She’s there.”
Oh my God. No. No, no, no. They wouldn’t…
“Alert everyone and have the house guarded and the rest of the men coming after me as back up.”
The line goes dead, and I curse to the high heavens. I push my foot down on the accelerator, needing to be there fifteen fucking minutes ago.
If anything happens to either of them, I am going on a fucking killing spree.
And if they happen to make it out with a hair on their heads out of place, let’s just say that whoever is responsible won’t like the rage that I will unleash upon them.

Kat
“I have a bad feeling about this, Zoey,” I say as we make our way on foot up to this Lodge place.
“Relax,” she says as if we’re just going for a quiet evening stroll. “These guys will have our backs.” She points to what I can only describe as the Motley crew behind us. There are six of them, and they all look pretty mean, and I don’t trust any of them. I’m starting to doubt my trust in Zoey at this point. I should have fought harder to get my phone off of her, but I know why she is doing this.
Nate won’t get over killing a woman. She told me that, and I believe it. He may be ruthless, but he only kills men.
I almost laugh at the thought. I mean, killing men is bad enough, but I don’t know, there’s just something about him not laying a hand on a female that makes my heart beat a little harder for him.
“Besides, Nate will be here soon,” she says, and I stop walking, my mouth dropping open.
“What?” I almost screech.
“I text him about five minutes ago, so we have about fifteen left before he starts to get anywhere close.”
“Zoey, you can’t just keep springing shit on me and expecting me to be able to deal with it,” I tell her, exasperated.
“Welcome to the family, babes,” she says, a smile on her face.
