“I’m fine. Can I watch Uncle Nico tattoo?”
“Not right now, but Aunt Indie is here and she said that she would watch you for a few hours.”
As if on cue, Indie and Mischa walk up from his office and Cat races over to hug them.
“Ready to go hang out for a bit?”
“Yeah!”
“Let’s get some ice cream and then I’ll show you some stuff.”
“Alright,” Cat says, taking Indie’s hand and walking to the front door with her.
“Now, have you ever logged into someone’s account?”
Cat shakes her head no, a grin stretching her face.
“Okay, now technically, it’s called hacking,” she says as she leads Cat out the door.
Mischa, Sam, and I stand in silence, watching them go.
“Should we be worried about that?” I ask.
“Probably,” Mischa says with a grin as he watches his wife lead our daughter away.
Mischa heads back to his room a minute later and I turn to my wife, leaning on the front counter. Sam is still watching our daughter walk hand in hand down the street with Aunt Indie and she smiles slightly before she gets this far off look on her face.
“I wonder how she’s going to take the news,” she murmurs and my brow scrunches.
“What news?”
“That she’s going to be a big sister,” Sam says, finally turning to meet my eyes.
“Oh, you brat,” I say with a grin as I lean over the counter and cradle her head in my hands. “When did you find out?”
“Last week. I wanted it to be a surprise.”
“Mission accomplished.”
She laughs, her whole face glowing as she beams up at me.
“Are you happy?”
“Happiest I’ve ever been,” I promise her as I pull her closer and brush my lips against hers.
“I love you, Samantha.”
“Love you more, Maxwell.”
