“You said you had something to tell me?” I turn to Jasmine in a bid to change the subject and get my mind off Kyle.
“It’s about Lilian and your cousin, David.”
“What about them, please don’t tell me what I think it is.” I noticed the way Lilian was seductively batting her eyes at my cousin David at my wedding. David is my maternal cousin and is known for his womanizing ways.
“It depends on what you’re actually thinking.” Jasmine pops her gum smiling.
Amongst us all Lilian is the most naïve. Always falling for the wrong guys. “Okay, now you’re making me curious. Out with it already.”
“Lilian hooked up with David, after your wedding. And a week after, when I asked her about him, she said they are an item now.”
“David asked her out?” My mouth is wide open in surprise because I’ve never known David to ask a girl out, he only does flings.
“So, Lilian said, but that isn’t the issue.” Jasmine parks her in front of a Prada store and we both get out of the car with me hurrying to her side because I’m curious to know what happened to my cousin and Lilian.
“So, what’s the issue?” I ask as we walk into the store.
“Two days ago, Lilian went over to David’s penthouse and spent the night.” We are now at the dress aisle and Jasmine is scanning a few dresses as she speaks. “Guess who came knocking?”
“Who?”
“David’s baby mama.”
“David has a baby mama?” I had no idea he has a baby mama; his mom never mentioned it.
“Same question I asked when Lilian told me about it. But according to her, a lady showed up at David’s doorstep, claiming to be his baby mama, and threatened to kill Lilian if she doesn’t stop seeing David, and that’s after she had thrown a few punches at Lilian, giving her a black eye and leaving finger marks on her body.”
Poor Lilian. “Where was David when all of these was going on?”
“Lilian said he wasn’t home when it happened, he had gone out to run an errand.”
“Oh, poor Lilian, I hope she’s, okay?”
Jasmine shrugs like she couldn’t be bothered. “I warned her but she wouldn’t listen.”
By the time Jasmine and I are done roaming almost all the designer stores in L.A. shopping, I’m tired to the bone and all I want to do is go back home, take a shower, have dinner, and go to bed. In that order.
But I decide to fix myself a sandwich first before taking a shower. Kyle isn’t back from the office yet.
I shriek in surprise when I step out of the bathroom after taking a shower and find Kyle standing in the middle of my bedroom, his eyes hooded as he stares at me.
“I didn’t mean to scare you,” he says his eyes not leaving mine.
“Wh... what are you er... doing here?” I stutter clutching to the towel wrapped around my chest for fear that it might fall off with how fast my chest is heaving.
“I haven’t seen you all day. You were still in bed when I left this morning.” He takes a step closer and I remain rooted in my spot. My throat bobs as I swallow hard watching him continue to walk closer closing the gap between us.
“How was your day?” He’s now standing in front of me and I catch a whiff of his cologne, it fills my nostrils making me want to tear his shirt and kiss every inch of his skin.
“I spent most of it shopping,” I say when I see he’s waiting for my response, although I think he already knows this, he must have gotten debit alerts of the purchases I made with his card.
He responds with a nod, his eyes trailing every inch of my skin. It’s as if he’s etching it into memory.
I should say something, but I can’t seem to get any word out as I watch him drink me in.
“About last night…” I manage to choke out.
He smirks. “That’s the title of a movie, want to go see it sometime?”
