“Wow,” Ellie whispers. Her eyes are closed, making her eyelashes fan across her cheeks.

“Tell me about it.” I place a small kiss on her swollen lips, then another on the corners of her mouth. She’s addicting, just as I knew she would be. “I’m not going to be able to think of anything else for the rest of the day.”

“Me neither.” She looks up at me, a sparkle in her blue eyes I haven’t seen before. Satisfaction moves through me at knowing I was the one to put it there.

I slowly extricate myself from her, my cock screaming at me to stay right where we are. “I have a meeting to go to in ten minutes.”

“I have the same meeting.”

“So, I’ll see you in a few?”

Ellie nods her head, a contented smile on her face as she walks back to her office. It’s going to take a monumental effort to get my brain back on track.

But that kiss was worth every minute of distraction.

CHAPTER13

Ellie

“Hold on a second. You’re telling me he kissed the hell out of you in his officealoneand you never went anyfurther?” Katie’s screech could be heard from three aisles away.

“Shhh. Keep your voice down.”

“Nuh-uh. No way, missy. You had a chance to get into the pants of Westlake’s most eligible bachelor and you didn’t take it! You can’t just say something like that and expect me to move on.”

Shaking my head, I continue down the toiletry aisle, leaving Katie trailing behind me. Adam and I leave for New Orleans tomorrow morning, and I am not prepared in the slightest. The past couple of days have been spent in a flurry of activity, reassigning Adam’s responsibilities and preparing for the final contract negotiations.

By shifting Adam’s tasks to other people, he won’t be as overwhelmed when he gets back. However, it meant a lot of meetings with different teams to discuss the projects before we leave.

Now, I’m doing the last-minute shopping I should’ve done days ago. Although, I’m sort of wishing I hadn’t asked Katie to help me. I wanted some time with my best friend, but I didn’t bargain on her being outraged that Adam and I haven’t had sex since we started whatever it is we’ve started.

There legitimately hasn’t been time. Since I signed the paper a couple of days ago, we’ve stolen kisses when we can, our make-out sessions becoming some of the hottest experiences of my life, but we’ve both been working nonstop to prepare for this trip.

“Please, for the love of God, promise me you will have sex with that man while you’re gone,” Katie pleads.

As much as I want to be annoyed with her, I laugh. Her desire to get me laid is actually pretty hilarious.

“I’m not making you any promises, but if the opportunity presents itself, I will do my best.”

“That’s all I’m asking. Oh, and details when you get back. I’m living vicariously through you right now.” Katie grins. I wrap my arm around her shoulders, amused by her irreverence.

“You could have any guy you want, you know,” I remind her.

Katie grimaces, disgust plain on her face. “I’m just fine with my vibrating boyfriends. However, hearing about your sexcapades will make for some great entertainment.”

I frown at her. “You don’t mean for like… imagination purposes?”

“Oh, my god! No! Of course not, you weirdo!” She smacks my arm.

I bust out laughing at her outrage, making her laugh with me. “I just wanted to make sure.”

“You’re happy with this, right? With pursuing a relationship with Adam? He is your boss, after all.”

“Yeah, I am. He made it very clear my job was safe if something were to happen between us, and having to hold back my desires from him would’ve been agony.”

“I just didn’t want you to get into another situation like you were in before.”

Images of being pushed against a door, unable to move or speak, flash through my head. I shake my head to try and dislodge the thoughts. “No, this is completely different from what happened before.”
