He glanced down at the apex between my thighs, barely covered by the tiny scrap of lace material. “Fuck, Elisa,” he said, averting his eyes as he once again tried to focus on the road. “Pull your skirt down and stop fucking around.”

Yes, I definitely had him now. “I’m sorry. Did you say pull my thong over and start fucking around?”

“Goddamnit, no, I didn’t,” he said, glancing over at me again.

But now, it was too late. I’d taken his misinterpreted advice and slid my thong to the side. My pussy was sopping wet. Even though I was pissed at him, the idea that I was turning him on had me hot and bothered, too. I could tell his dick was twitching against his slacks, and when I slid my fingers up inside me, the floodgates opened.

Leaning back in the seat, I pumped my fingers in and out of my core. “Oh, god, Daemon. This feels so good. It’s too bad it’s not your massive cock inside me.”

“Shit,” he swore. I felt the car turn sharply, but my eyes were closed as I concentrated on putting on a good show for him, moaning and panting as my thumb stroked against my clit. It would’ve been much better if it were him buried up to the hilt inside me, but this was better than nothing.

A moment later, I felt the car lurch to a halt and opened my eyes to see we were in the parking lot of some abandoned building. Daemon pushed a button on the door, and his seat started moving backward. He didn’t even wait for it to stop before he threw off our seatbelts, reaching for me. Taking me by the hips, he lifted me off my seat and twisted me into the air, plunking me down on top of him.

“You naughty little bitch.” He unzipped his pants, pulled out his cock, and stroked it a few times. “You’re a fucking minx, Elisa.”

Rather than answering him, I leaned down and devoured his mouth with mine, steadying myself with my hands on his shoulders. He bit down on my lower lip, causing a tinge of pain before he sucked it into his mouth.

He grabbed my thong and tore it right off me. Then, commanding my hips, he slammed me down, impaling me on his rigid dick. I let out a cry, but it didn’t hurt. No, it made my entire body heat to a molten flame, my hips instantly beginning to rock in response to him.

Like wild animals, the two of us began to claw at one another, moving fast and furiously, not able to get enough of him. Daemon yanked the top of my dress down, exposing my bare breasts, and took a nipple between his lips, sucking hard as he continued to move at a frantic pace. Unable to breathe, I tipped my head back, trying to suck in air, but I was already gone to the world.

My body began to spasm around his, creating even more friction as wave after wave of euphoria washed over me. I didn’t want him to stop, but my lungs were beginning to burn as I cursed his name. His response was to take my other nipple into his mouth, grazing it with his teeth before sucking so hard I saw stars.

Another orgasm ripped through my body. My knees went numb, and my cries became frantic. Once again, I found myself at his mercy, simultaneously begging him to join me in release so that I could breathe again but also wanting this feeling to expand into oblivion. When he finally tightened up beneath me, I braced myself for the violent jerking that was sure to follow such an explosive encounter.

Daemon grunted several times before he pinned my hips to his and contracted several times, pumping into me as his warmth spilled into me. “Fuck. Holy shit. Fuck,” he muttered, nothing coming out of his mouth making much sense.

Sweaty, panting, and sore, I looked down at him, not yet wanting to peel myself off his lap so we could continue on our way. I’d won—and we both knew it. Ordinarily, beating Daemon Petrov had dire consequences. Other syndicate members who went against him often ended up dead. Yet, here I was, grinning down at him, playing the role of the champion, and living to see another day—or so I hoped.

Daemon lifted me off him and dumped me into the passenger seat unceremoniously, still recovering. Beads of perspiration dotted his forehead, glistening in the light of the nearby streetlamps.

“You’re a cocky little bitch, La Rosa,” he said to me, but he had a look on his face that I recognized. It wasn’t the same smugness he’d approached me with earlier when he was smarting off about me not being able to tell him what to do. No, this was different. This was a look that said maybe I was right. Maybe I did hold a few cards in this relationship.

I straightened up my dress without comment, refastening my seatbelt as he took off into the night. I had no idea if he was going to take me back to my place or his. Either way, I’d be okay. Just knowing that I could, occasionally, get Daemon Petrov to do what I wanted him to do was enough for me. For now.

If I could just get him to trust me enough to understand that I could be a far more valuable asset than he was giving me credit for, then maybe the last of the walls he had around his heart would finally break down, and he would recognize once and for all that we had a shot at something real.

CHAPTER12

DAEMON

The autumn breeze stirred the rows of cornstalks we drove by on our way out to the secret location Tilda had told me about. She sat in the back of the old white van we’d borrowed from one of the warehouses, Vin in the passenger seat. I’d decided to go with a vehicle that looked a little more inconspicuous in the setting, other than a flashy sports car. While the van wasn’t my usual type of ride, it wouldn’t stick out like the car I’d driven to the club the night before.

Tilda was leaning up between the seats, not giving a damn about wearing a seatbelt, not that there was even one available to her back there. She probably figured she’d gambled so many times with her life a measly car wreck wouldn’t be able to take her out. “Turn right at this next corner,” she said. “Next to the old tree that looks like it’s flipping us off.”

I was confused at first, but then I spotted a tree that only had leaves on the middle section, two outer arms barren and much shorter, and I sort of understood what she was referring to. I turned, kicking up dust as I went, and continued down yet another dirt road. We’d been driving for almost thirty minutes now, and the cityscape of Chicago was long behind us. It was hard to believe one could run into a country setting so quickly after leaving the city, but then, much of Illinois and Indiana were cornfields.

“Okay, it’s gonna be a hard left, and then the farmhouse is up a winding driveway, separated from the road with a row of trees.” Looking in the rearview mirror, I saw Tilda biting down on her bottom lip. She was nervous, and I couldn’t blame her, but she wouldn’t want me to see that.

I followed her directions, seeing the road she spoke of off to the side and the line of trees. It did seem very secluded out here, and I could see why the Savages might think they could literally get away with murder having their headquarters out here away from the city.

I found a road to park on a bit down the path, away from the house itself, and Vin, Tilda, and I got out of the van. Immediately, my brother pulled a pair of binoculars from his pocket. “We’ll have to get closer for these to work.”

I shook my head, chuckling at him. “Amateur.” Going to the back of the van, I opened it up and pulled out a drone.

“What the fuck?” he asked. “Since when did you become so high-tech?”

“Since I realized we’d have to stay far enough away from the place not to be seen until we establish what the hell is going on up there,” I told him.
