Am I…

“There were prawns in the curry,” another deep voice says before the heat of a second body burns my side. “I didn’t know, Pet. If I did then—”

“What the fuck is going on?” JD barks.

It takes everything I have, but I manage to crack my eyes open, just enough to see him pull his cell from his pocket.

I have no idea where I am. Nothing about my surroundings is familiar. But he’s here. So is Reid.

I’m safe. I’m—

“Security breach,” he says, a little calmer than he probably should.

“Shit,” Reid hisses.

No sooner have they said those words there’s a crash somewhere in the distance.

The warmth of Reid’s body is gone in a flash and I watch as he pulls his gun from the back of his pants. Aiming it right at the door.

I’m still dreaming, right?

This isn’t real.

None of this is—

“Mav,” I cry, seeing him like a vision in the doorway.

His eyes find me for the briefest of seconds and everything in my world slots into place.

He’s here. He came for me. He found me.

Only, it isn’t a dream because he’s also holding a gun and he has it pointed right at Reid.

“No, please. Don’t do this. Don’t—”

Bang.

“NOOOOOO,” I scream, but before I get to discover what just happened, the darkness flicking in my vision takes hold and I fall down and down in the pits of darkness, where only the worst monsters live.

“Please, no. Someone help me.”
