“Wait, you said was,” Sever states as he walks closer to her. “I thought he was in prison?”
“Even people in prison have a code. He broke the code. I may have also helped in making sure they found out about his preferred method of sex.”
“Why?”
“He wanted her. I wanted him. He lost. I won. I still make money; he rots in the ground.” she attempts to shrug. It seems she forgot her hands are strapped above her head.
“How’d you get to him in prison?”
“God, you guys are idiots. Through Connard. Do you honestly think Connard is a good guy? Or Stephens? Hell, Stephens will do anything you want if you promise him blow and a tight asshole.”
“What about Connard’s other two, Mallard and MacIntyre?” Copper asks.
“Those two don’t matter. Last Connard told me, Mallard was acting too eager to please. He was too suspicious. He knocked him down a rank. MacIntyre is just a bitch boy. He sucks Connard’s dick when he’s told to, but Connard doesn’t trust him for shit. Only Stephens.”
I look around the room and take it all in. I can tell everyone is trying to figure out how this woman can be so fucking evil. There was something knawing at me, how did she know we had an appointment that day.
“Why did you go after Aletta that day? How did you know everything about her?”
Bonnie looks at me like I’m a fucking idiot, “I volunteer at the office. It gives me access to files and it’s one of the easiest ways to get merchandise. It being from your club was a bonus.” It takes everything I have to not pull my gun, but I don’t. Prez would kill me if I did. “Are we done here, or…?”
She trails off as she looks around the room. Cowboy turns her face back to his, “How’d you get Bigfoot?”
She laughs again, and I am this fucking close to cutting out her tongue, so I don’t have to hear it anymore.
“Bringing them to this side of the business is a piece of cake when you have problems too big to resolve. You guys preach about brotherhood, but you couldn’t even see that he was struggling. Mountains of debt, and he couldn’t see a way out. I had it go through my chains, but they did their job and convinced him. The money was too good to pass up. It wasn’t long before he was planting drugs and taking the kids to the drops.”
Cowboy is fuming. His shoulders are visibly moving up and down. I can hear his breathing. We were betrayed by our brother because he was in debt and didn’t want to come to talk to us about it.
“I can’t wait to see you bleed out,” he tells her and then slams the knife into her thigh. She inhales, and when he pulls it out, she screams out. “No one touches her until I’m back.” With that, he walks up the steps. Butcher comes up behind her, grabbing her head and pulling it back.
“You’re gonna wish you die once we get started because whatever minuscule part of your heart is still beating, it’s mine to get rid of.”
She shudders, and I smile. I look at her, and I feel nothing. I will not save her from her twisted fate.
It’s about ten minutes later when the cellar door opens. I don’t turn around because I don’t need to.
“Well, well. It looks like you found a present. You know, you really should keep better track of the men around you.” Bonnie says.
Confused by her comment, I turn around, and Elvira is standing in the cellar. What the fucking hell?
Twenty One
Elvira
Serenity.
I sigh in what I can only describe as peace; for the first time in, I don’t even know how long. It’s been one thing after another for my family. It’s what I signed up for when I gave my heart to a man determined to start and remain in a motorcycle club. This club has caused me a lot of reasons to drink at night. These past few—I can’t even keep count any more—weeks, months, who knows, have stressed me out. But tonight? Tonight, I’m finally calm.
Aletta is having a baby with one of my babies. Well, not really. But Cougar has been here for a while, and I’ve watched him grow into the man he is currently. Their baby is a shining beacon of light that my family desperately needs. Her mother and I are working together to throw them a baby shower, and I’m finally on my way home from a day of shopping for it.
I spent way too much money, but I really don’t care.
My soul needed this time.
It doesn’t take long to get to the ranch after my last stop. Everyone is at my house right now, so I make the small drive over to Bri and Jonny’s to stash everything. Aletta knows the shower is happening but not what it is going to entail. Bri’s house is the perfect place to hide it right now. When I pull up, I see Storm’s truck and my husband’s bike. Odd.
I shake my head.
