“They were able to get through customs. We told them to sit tight and not do anything until we get there. They wanted to break him out, but that won’t help his case. We can prove that he was returning them.”
“I just got a call from Myer. He called the government to tell them that a traveler was coming in with stolen items,” said Sadie.
“Bastard,” muttered Georgie. “We have to go now, and we need the jet.”
“I’ll take you,” said Savannah.
“Two pilots,” said Cam. “Get Doug to go along. Even with our jets, it’s a long damn flight.” Savannah nodded, racing off to find one of the other pilots.
“We need to send May and Thomas,” said Luke. “Georgie and Kat, you go with them as legal counsel. Fitch, Bron, Chief, Sam, and Jalen are the team.”
“I’m going as well,” said Sadie. They all turned to look at her. Virginia started to move toward her daughter, but Wes held firm to her hand, shaking his head. “I’m going. I’m in love with Ham, and he’s there because of me. I’m going, and I’m going to get him out of jail and go after Myer.”
Cam and Luke stared at one another, then turned to Angel and Wes.
“Okay, Sadie, you can go as well. But listen to me,” said Luke. “Christopher and Patrick are on the ground there. They are in control of this mission, and you will do as they say. I understand that you’re intelligent and that you’ve spent time in-country. We can use your help with things like their customs and how we need to operate, but you will not interfere in this operation.”
“I promise not to interfere, Luke. But I can help. You forget that I was there undoing everything that Ambassador Provost had done. I’ve made a few friends in the government, and I think they’ll listen to me.”
Luke stared at the young woman, wondering if her mental and physical health were up to this. He looked at Wes, who gave a nod.
“We have to go now,” said Savannah. “Like right now!”
“Go,” said Cam. “Stay in touch through comms, even in the air. We’ll relay any news we hear from Patrick and Christopher.”
Virginia and Wes hugged their daughter, kissing her. She was prepared for a lecture about her safety, but when her father pulled back, he just grinned.
“Bring those idiot brothers of yours home.”
CHAPTER TWELVE
“When did you steal the articles?” asked the man again.
“I am a United States citizen. I have the right to representation, and I am allowed to call my embassy.”
“You will call no one until you tell me when you stole these items.”
“And I will tell you again, I was not stealing these items. I was returning them. Why on earth would I be coming into your country with the antiquities if I stole them?” The agent just stared at him, trying to intimidate the bigger man, but he knew he was failing miserably.
“You will be tortured and hanged if you do not tell me the truth.” Ham just stared at the man, unmoved by his intimidation tactics. Gripping a long metal bar, he started to come toward Ham. In one swift movement, he stood and broke the zip ties on his wrists, grabbing the man’s wrist and taking the bar, flinging it across the room. Men drew their weapons, staring at the big beast.
“I am not guilty of theft. I am trying to do a kindness for your country. If I wanted to hurt you, if I wanted to escape, I could. The man you want is Davis Myer, and my team and I will help you find him.”
The humiliated agent rubbed his wrist, then reached for the metal bar again. Ham shook his head, just chuckling as he started to come toward him.
“Stop!” yelled a man at the back of the room.
“So help me, God, if you lay one hand on my client, I will make sure that you are tried by the highest courts of the United Nations,” said Kat. Ham turned, smiling at the group walking toward him.
“Hi, baby,” he said, grinning at Sadie as she ran toward him, hugging him and kissing him.
“Hi,” she smiled.
“Miss Jordan is a friend of Micronesia,” said the man. “We know that she was here with Davis Myer a few months back, and we also know that he was suspected at that time of stealing antiquities.”
“Who are you?” asked Ham.
“My name is Pikut,” he smiled. “I am a high-ranking government official, and we apologize for your arrest.”
