My brows pull until I see myself in the mirror. Tears are still rolling down my face, and my whole body shakes.

“I’m sorry. It’s just a lot and seeing them on the news has brought up all that pain from the past.” I explain.

“I understand. Right now, I have no further questions, but I might have to call you back in for more information. Let me walk you out. Do you need a moment?”

“I want to see my boyfriend. I’m okay.” Standing, I follow him out of the room, and he escorts me back to the waiting room. But now all three of my men are here and seeing them makes my eyes blur with tears.

Evander is the first to pull me into his chest, letting me cry out a sob.

“What the fuck is going on?” Jax snaps at the officer.

“Jax,” I pull back to look at him. “Calm down.”

“It’s okay. I can’t say too much to you guys, though, but she is allowed to speak about it on her own terms,” Officer Ryans says. “I am sorry I upset you, Artemis. I really hope with my help all these cases will be put to rest. Have a good day.” His footsteps echo as he leaves us.

“Cases?” Ky asks, looking at me.

My bottom lip begins to shake as I look up at him. “There was more… after me…”

“Fuck,” Jax growls as Evander pulls me back into his chest. A sob breaks through me. “Let’s get the fuck out of here.”

Together, we walk out of the police station. I find Evander’s car in the parking lot first, and we all walk to it.

“You know this isn’t your fault, right?” Evander asks.

I wipe my tears away. “I know. It just hurts. This istheirfault.”

“Should have let you gut them,” Jax mutters to Evander.

A laugh cracks in my throat. “I would have watched.”

Kyler chuckles, touching my head and pulling me into his chest next. “Do you know how many women you probably did save? You did everything you could to protect them before this happened, but everyone else just kept silencing you.”

“I know,” I whisper. “At least it’s not as many as I feared.”

“You gave those girls the justice that they probably would have never found,” Jax informs, making me look at him. He wasn’t looking at me, but I waited until he did.

“Thank you… Thank you all for being with me right now!” I start to ugly cry again, tears rushing down my face.

Jax groans, pulling me into a hug by just holding the back of my head. “So, fucking tired of seeing you cry.”

“These are happy tears,” I mumble against his shirt.

“Don’t care. How about we… order some food, play some games, or whatever you want to do tonight?”

I sniff, looking up. “Yeah… I want to just go home.”

“Beat you there,” Ky quickly adds, moving to his car.

“Yeah right, fucker. You lose, you buy dinner,” Jax says to him, kissing my lips before he runs to his car.

“Fuck,” Ky mutters, running back to me to kiss my lips.

“What is wrong with them?” Evander mutters, shaking his head and watching them leave.

“Doyouwant to buy dinner tonight?” I ask, looking up.

He thinks for a minute. “No, get the fuck in the car.”

I hold back my laughter, feeling grateful for my men who know how to take my mind off the dark, nitty gritty shit of this shit world.
