“Say please,” she repeated, a hint of excitement in her eye.
“...Please.”
Eden smiled.
“Good Kitty...”
She caressed his cheek and finally leaned over to give him that long, slow, and sexy kiss.
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Eden rolled on her side, exhausted. How late was it now...? She didn’t remember falling asleep. She still felt a bit sweaty, but... content. At least the wild sex with Dante had somewhat managed to make her forget all about her earlier troubles. As if he would have stopped at one round only; she should have known better with that hungry Tiger. Not satisfied enough after doing it once, he had turned the tables for a second round, and a third one... Eden had passed out at some point. She was already tired from the Dive, so this really wasn’t a smart thing to do.
She just had sex with Dante De Luca, the Italian Mafia Boss. Eden felt a bit foolish, but she didn’t regret a thing. First, because the sex was good. And second, because it was obvious this sexual tension between them would have needed some release sooner or later... Grabbing the sheet, she sat up, looking around for Dante. The room was empty, though. The only thing that had changed from earlier was the orange light of the sunset outside and the temperature, a bit colder. Eden frowned and got up, using the silk sheet to cover herself. She grimaced as she felt her insides react. They really had done it raw... That bastard. She sighed. She really hadn’t bothered either, to be fair... When had Dante left the room? She was so tired, she hadn’t even noticed.
Eden sighed and walked around, trying to find her clothes before going to the bathroom. They had been thrown all across the room, quite literally. She was surprised to find Dante’s shirt among them. Had he gone half-naked...? Eden took it as well and walked with the bundle of clothes to the bathroom.
To her surprise, Dante was there.
Not just that, but he was sitting on the floor with his head in his hands, grimacing. Eden completely forgot about the clothes, letting them fall at the doorstep, and walked up to him.
“Dante?”
She grabbed his wrist, but he barely seemed to acknowledge her presence. The frown between his eyebrows was making her worried. Eden knew the face of pain all too well.
“Dante, what is it? Talk to me.”
He finally opened his eyes, and strangely, they were now black. Not gold, but as black as coal; the irises had completely changed colors. Eden gasped. She hadn’t expected that. He was staring at her blankly, as if he couldn’t see her through the pain. Eden sat a bit closer. She didn’t dare touch him more than her fingers on his wrist, so she was just waiting to see how he’d respond to her, her heart beating fast. What was going on?
“...Is it your head?”
Eden wasn’t sure if she could touch his head or not. She had noticed he’d strangely frown sometimes. She had guessed early on he was putting up a front all the time, in front of her and his subordinates. She had no idea what that was about, though, and she wouldn’t have guessed it was that bad either. Eden was more flustered to find Dante so vulnerable than to learn there was something wrong with him. He was usually so good at keeping his emotions in check, so this was taking her by surprise. Still, she couldn’t ignore this and walk away. Not now that they had gotten a lot more intimate...
“Talk to me,” she said, trying a more authoritative tone. “Dante.”
“My head... hurts,” he groaned.
She had figured this much, but Eden was glad to have managed to make him talk at least. She knew how hard it was for herself when her phantom pain kicked in.
“Do you need me to fetch you something? Water? Do you have meds?”
She couldn’t imagine for someone as wealthy as a Zodiac not to have at least some headache medicine. Drugs and medicine were among the most expensive items in the Suburbs, but it wasn’t completely out of reach. Not for someone who owned a whole building and probably many more. Eden glanced at the little cupboards, but she couldn’t remember seeing medicine in those she had opened before, only clothes and bathroom products…. She was about to get up to search again, but Dante suddenly grabbed her arm, keeping her right where she was.
“Dante...”
“Stay.”
His voice was more hoarse and lower than usual, but even without that, Eden wouldn’t have moved. She was unsure of what to do, but she wouldn’t leave him alone. Not after what he had done for her before... She changed positions, sitting down on her knees to get a little closer to him. Eden kept her hand on his wrist. She wouldn’t have been able to move it anyway as Dante was firmly holding onto it.
“Talk to me,” she said, swallowing her saliva.
He took a deep breath. She could tell he was fighting the pain and trying to win over it.
“...I should have stayed in bed with you,” he whispered between his teeth.
Eden glanced around and the fact that he only had his underwear on, he was probably about to take a shower when... this happened. How long had it been? His skin felt cold to the touch, and their bed was definitely still warm...
“Yeah, you should have,” she said. “Can I do something?”
