“Say it, Cookie.”

“My love for you is wider than theocean.” I breathe between tickles. Cole stops, his hands smoothing down myhair. His look turns seductive, and he pulls me to him in a heated kiss. He slipshis tongue in, running it along my teeth, and flicking into my mouth. I takehis tongue deeper, sucking lightly.

A growl rumbles through him and I’mflipped onto my back. “The things you do to me, Kate.”

“I do try.” I wrap my legs around hisback, rolling my hips into his.

“Cookie,” He groans, entwining our handsand pushing them above my head. “I’ve created a monster.”

I laugh with delight. “Are you calling mea cookie monster?”

Cole bends over, brushing his noseagainst mine, nipping at my jaw. “I definitely am.”

“There is just one thing.”

“Oh, yeah?”

“Yeah, you have to feed me cake, notcookies.”

“Oh baby, anytime you want. As much as Iwant to stay and play with you. I need to get back to work and you’ve got aroom full of women waiting for you.” Cole sits me up, my good mood diminishing.

“Oh, right.”

Cole pulls out his phone. “Luke texted. He says the women are ready to go shopping and the cars are out front.”

“The SUVs?”

“Yes.”

“How much security?”

“Four total. Luke doesn’t think we haveanything to be worried about with your family, just you.”

“Lucky me,” I say, laying on the sarcasm.“At least I’m actually getting to leave the hotel.”

“Just keeping my wife safe.” Cole crawlsoff the bed and then helps me up. “Kate, is everything going to be okay withyour mom and the rest of the women?”

I shrug. “I’m not sure. Now that Iunderstand why they’re being more catty than usual, I can take it in stride, hopefully. However, I’m not going to be able to eat in front of them, so you’regoing to have to sneak me Oreos.” Just thinking about food and what my mom, aunt, and Jill did and said still stings. Maybe they have a point. I’ve alwaysbeen aware of my weight. I work out, but maybe I do need to lose weight.

“Kate,” Cole rubs a hand up and down myarm.

“Huh?” I look up at him.

“Did you hear what I said?”

I look away from him. I know how he hateswhen I rant in my head. “No.”

“Look at me, baby.”

I turn slightly, looking out the cornerof my eyes, but that isn’t what he wants. Cole guides my chin with a fingeruntil we are face to face. “What I said is anything you want.”

“Oh, okay.”

“Please tell me what you are thinking.” Itry to look away, but Cole holds my chin firm. He doesn’t say anything, he justwaits.

“Do you think I’m fat?” The words comeout in a rush.

“Haven’t we had this conversation before?No, I don’t.”
