He aims the missile perfectly, the ensuing blast big enough to blow a ten-feet-wide hole in the wall. Switching to my earpiece, I radio the other helicopter, giving them orders to find Nate’s SUV and drop the others with them.

“Nate, helicopter two is incoming. They’ll be dropping off their passengers with you.”

“Copy that.”

The guards are running around like ants shooting at us as if their tiny bullets are going to puncture this baby. Whatever makes them feel better.

“Want to shoot off another one?” I ask Kian, who whoops in response. “Set it down in the middle, not too close to the house. Let’s take out some of these fuckers.”

The second missile drops, leaving a small crater in the lawn. Bodies are strewn around it, unmoving. “Good shot.”

“Thanks.”

“Nate, you’re good to go. We’re going to land the copter then join you. Don’t shoot us.”

“Copy.”

I swallow down the lump in my throat as I gaze across the walkway that separates the rows of cells. One of the women didn’t make it to this morning, and it breaks my heart. She was so close to being rescued. It’s the same woman I shared a cell with in Vincenzo’s other property. It’s maybe a blessing though, with how thin she was, and how little of her mind was left due to Vincenzo’s cruelty.

I say a prayer for her soul, closing my eyes for a moment to wish her onward to a better afterlife. Blowing out a breath, I pull myself to my feet, only to lurch backward when a blast of energy shakes the house. The boom comes next and the women around me scream in terror. Pulling the tweezers from my mouth, I quickly unclip the manacles and unlock my door.

“Listen up!” I call out, and the women stop, facing me. “Those are my friends. They’re here to rescue us. I need all of you to remain calm. Today, you get your freedom.”

They’re too browbeaten to believe me but they settle down. Grabbing one of the guns we stashed away, I stop by the torture wall and further arm myself with a knife. Excitement unfurls in my belly, and a grin grows widely across my face as I run up the stairs.

Chapter 66

Assoonasweget the go-ahead, we jump on top of the SUV and hurdle over the wall. Eric catches me, dropping me to the ground gently before crushing his lips to mine. “Stay safe, angel.” Then he’s gone to join Nate, their knives out and teeth bared.

I take a moment to admire their beauty. My boys have let their demons out to play, and it is a glorious sight. Nate tackles a guard, slitting his throat. He jumps to his feet, malicious laughter pouring from him as he gestures for the next guard to come at him. The guard turns and runs, Nate hot on his heels.

Switching my gaze to my silver demon, my stomach clenches as I watch him sneak up behind a guard and stab him in the kidney. The guard falls with a shout, and Eric pounces on him, stabbing him with an almost otherworldly fury.

My panties are soaked watching them, and the thrill of knowing what they’ll do to me later while the bloodlust still pumps through their veins is enough to have me panting.

A victorious howl rises in the air, and a vicious grin rips across my face. A second howl sounds and I join my voice as the third. Pumping my arms, I tear into the melee, knife at the ready and demonic laughter pouring from deep within me as the first spray of blood decorates my face. “Run, little piggies! Run!”

The whole flight here I was buzzing with energy. God, I need this. I can’t wait to have Vincenzo at my knees, as I was once at his. He’ll feel everything I did, that I vow. And before he closes his eyes for the final time, I’ll writeRetributionacross his forehead, so he’ll know that the child whose life he destroyed is the one that killed so many of his people.

As we fly over the compound, heading to the SUV as directed, we decide to change course and head for the western side. After getting the go-ahead from Ryan, the copter lands just inside the wall’s perimeter. Trey and I jump out, followed by the twins. A shout goes up when the bags are removed, and Susannah makes her appearance known.

I burst into laughter. I can’t help it. Good for her for standing up for herself. The twins are pissed but will just have to deal with it.

“We’re going to set the helicopter over by the SUV,” the pilot shouts out to us, and we wave them on. We don’t want to take the chance of it getting damaged inside the walls. We duck down as the motor starts up, bracing against the wind from the propellers. Once it’s gone, we race along the wall, guns raised.

Bullets hit the wall above us and we duck, Trey stepping in front of me as he roars his anger. I swear to God, if he gets shot again trying to protect me, I’m going to kick his ass. I can’t go through that again.

Susannah drops to a knee and takes aim, killing two guards on the roof that were firing at us.

We exchange grins, then hurry on, shooting down any guard we come across. Our little team works well as a unit, and we make our way closer and closer to the house.
