"Where did Kai go?" I ask suddenly, a bit thrown off by his disappearance.

Knox has a sharp intake of breath before tracing my line of sight with his gaze.

"Probably went to bed. He doesn't like to make a huge fuss about it. He might expect me to be your jailer for the night." He flirts while winking at me.

"He just likes to slip in and out without a word?" I ask as I slowly move to my feet.

I'm horny as hell but I haven't eaten since Kai brought me a small turkey sandwich for breakfast.

I'm getting sick of turkey.

"He's introverted. He likes going into his personal bubble and he's not keen on telling people where he's going. He likes his independence and doesn't want us trying to babysit him. He doesn't even like people offering a helping hand. He thinks his problems are his own."

That makes sense. Growing up, it was rare for Kai to let me, my father, or the team back in Little Rock near him unless he specifically reached out, and it was usually to only one person at a time.

"Yup, that's Kai alright." I slowly walk toward the kitchen, and I sense Knox close behind me. "He's not an introvert," I say as I look at Knox, staring at me with confusion. "He's either a sociopath or something close to it. There's a difference between being a sociopath or having sociopathic tendencies. A sociopath is someone with a disregard for societal norms, rules, and morals, mostly because it doesn't align with what their own morals are. Not to mention, they can't really understand other people's emotions." I look down at the two plates of food and see … turkey. Just fucking turkey.

"Goddamn it," I curse as I sit roughly down in the chair. "I'm sick of turkey. All that bastard feeds me is turkey."

Knox laughs under his breath before sitting down next to me at the island.

"That's just step four," he explains.

"Step four?"

"Of C-4. Eating the same thing constantly is boring and takes away any sort of spice or enjoyment. After a while, the person would rather starve than eat the same thing. It's a slow torture that builds up over time."

I grumble as I pick at the piece of turkey.

"I'm all for the whole torture Blaine by torturing me crap but this is fucking ridiculous. First the condoms and now … disgusting turkey." I throw the small piece in my mouth.

I feel Knox’s eyes on me so I look over at him. He gives me a look I can't quite decipher.

"What?" I ask once I swallow the piece in my mouth.

"What about condoms?" he questions with a suspicious look appearing on his face.

"Oh. I told Kai to use a condom and he refused. I also told him if he wasn't going to use one then to pull out, and he refused that too."

Knox blinks at me before his jaw clenches, tension slowly building in his face. Knox is always the guy who is laughing or joking around. I've never seen him look so … serious.

"Why does that matter? We're all clean and you must be on birth control," Knox states with a challenge for me to try to go against what he says.

I'm stunned for a moment. Not only by his tone but the words he spoke.

Did Kai not tell them? How could he be so irresponsible?

My dad would always say that he would never let me get on birth control, and holding that hostage would keep me a virgin. Just because I didn't keep condoms with me didn't mean that whatever guy I was fucking wasn't well aware beforehand that condoms were a must.

"I-I'm not on birth control," I admit.

His face pales to the point he looks like he might pass out.

"I-I-I thought you knew."

"How the hell would I or the others know?" His voice booms, and I cower at the volume. It reminds me of when Kai manhandled me and threw me down on the bed, screaming in my face before putting a knife to my neck.

"Be-be-because Kai knew," I say, my voice stuttering.
