Page 14 of Kissing My Grumpy Ex Boyfriend
The kids all jump up from their seats and run for the door like a wild herd of animals.
I shake my head, watching them all go.
“Mrs. Langley, can I still turn this in for credit,” Billy asks, handing me a crumpled-up sheet of paper.
“This is the last time,” I agree, taking it from him.
Billy bolts for the door, yelling his appreciation over his shoulder at me.
I turn to put it on my desk when someone whistles behind me. I glance over my shoulder at the sexiest man alive—my new husband.
“Hello, Mr. Langley. I didn’t know you were stopping by.”
He steps into the room and walks around the rows of desks straight toward me.
“I finished my work early and wanted to surprise you.” He leans down and gives me a deep kiss like he hasn’t seen me in weeks, and not just this morning.
“I have a surprise for you.”
I smile at him. “A surprise?”
“Uh-huh.” He kneels and kisses my growing belly. “Hello, little one, daddy’s here. I missed you today too.”
I give him my happiest grin. I love how he does that every time he sees me.
“Come on, let’s get out of here.”
I grab my cardigan and purse and head out to his truck.
“So what’s this surprise?”
He gives me a boyish grin. “You’ll see soon enough.”
We head out of the school parking lot in the direction of the lake. It’s fall, and the leaves are changing, making this scenic ride even more special. But instead of going towards the pier, he takes a side street.
“You know how you always said how much you love the Crawford’s lake house?”
“Yeah,” I agree.
“And you know how you told Mr. Crawford that if they ever wanted to sell it, that we would buy it?”
Realization hits me, and I know where we are going. “Are they thinking of selling?”
Aiden pulls into the Crawford’s lake house driveway and holds up some keys. “They already did. We closed this morning.”
“Are you serious?” I reach over and wrap my arms around him, and he has to slam on the brakes to keep us from crashing.
“You said you wanted a push present, so there you go.”
I laugh. “I meant like a spa package in the city or something.”
“This lake is too special to us not to settle down here.” Aiden leans in and kisses me.
“It’s absolutely perfect.”
