My stomach started to rumble the longer I stood there waiting for Valentino to return. Girls were still being called up on stage.Ooh.I grabbed my abdomen.

Tanya put her hand on my shoulder. “You okay?”

I nodded, wincing. “My stomach hurts. I need to go to the bathroom.”

“Let me tell B we’re—”

I shook my head. “The bathroom is right over there. I’ll be right back.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah, security is crazy strict tonight.”

“Okay, if you’re not back in a few, I’m coming after you.”

Clutching my stomach, I nodded with a forced smile as I spun around and pushed my way politely through the multitude behind us. I staggered a bit, stopping once I was behind the crowd.Ouch. Hurrying toward the side bathroom, I tried to appear as casual as possible in case anyone saw me. I was a lady after all. I had eaten dinner earlier in the night but I only had one appetizer earlier. Surely that would not have upset my guts this much.

As I got closer to the bathroom, I began to panic under my breath. No no no. There were signs on both restrooms.Closed for Maintenance. At a party? We were not told about that. The need to vomit was becoming almost too much for me to handle.

I glanced back at the stage. Girls were still being called up. I sprinted toward the door coming to a stop before security guard. “Please I have to use the bathroom. I’m pregnant.”

He glanced down at my stomach and back up at me. “Ma’am, I’m not supposed to let anyone come or go unless it’s an emergency.”

“Itisan emergency. The bathrooms over there are closed for maintenance and I have to go really bad.”

His eyes averted to my stomach once again before he looked around the room. “Okay, but please hurry.”

“Thank you thank you thank you.”

The moment the doors were opened, I sprinted down the hallway, remembering there were another set of bathrooms close by. I came to a stop in front of them. “You have got to be kidding me!”

Any second now, it would happen, and I would be publicly embarrassed for the rest of my life when security footage was released of Valentino’s fiancée puking in the hallway. Taking a deep breath, I made a beeline down the corridor toward another hallway where I saw no sign. Ducking into the Ladies room, I sprinted for the stall and leaned over the toilet, violently vomiting.

Suddenly, the bathroom went dark, and I heard a click.

“Hello?” I called out between gurgling and coughing more into the toilet.

Nothing.

It was pitch black, but I vomited again. Thinking there was maybe a glitch with the lights being on a motion sensor, I stood and faltered out of the stall in the direction of the sink, waving my arms back and forth in the air, trying to trigger the sensor.

Nothing.

“Damnit.” I growled.

I felt around for the sink, but when I reached out, there was a person instead. It was too dark to see them. They did not speak. It was not Valentino. That much I knew.

“Who’s there?”

The light came on and I froze. “No. Oh God. Fel—”

Tossing his head back, he roared with laughter before all the emotion was promptly wiped from his face. “Stupid stupid, girl.”
