“Nina, sit down, relax, and tell us about the tall glass of milk you swallowed today,” Morgan laughed.
Dylan side-eyed me with a smirk, “What did I miss?”
Morgan continued to tell my business, “She had the nerve to text me to track her phone cause she was out running around with some dude in the nude!”
I couldn't help but laugh. They talked so much shit all the time!
“Shut up! I wasn’t nude when we were running. He took me to Rivalry, got me a new dress, lunch and is taking me to dinner tomorrow night, too.”
Dylan slid my drink across the table and sat down on the love seat, “Oh really? Why not tonight? If some man spent some coins on me, ain’t no way in hell I’d be chillin’ wit y’all!”
“Wow, thanks Dylan. It’s nice to know where we stand,” I laughed.
Dylan huffed with a smirk, “Now come on, just tell us why you’re not with him right now. We could have talked shit over brunch!”
“It’s his birthday, and I told him to go spend it with his friends and family. Ain’t no way I’m going to let a perfect stranger-”
Morgan cut me off. “Dick you downandtake you out to dinner with his friends and family?”
“He did not dick me down but he tongue game was insane, I’m still wet thinking about it.”
Laughter erupted between us as I went through my day, moment for moment, minute for salacious minute. It had to be around two in the morning when we finally made our way out of Velvet Black. Three cars sat at the curb, ready to take each of us home. Dylan always made sure we had a way home after spending the night drinking in her spot.
By the time the car pulled up to my building, the world felt like it was on tilt. The driver turned around and asked me something, but I could barely understand what he said. All I knew was that I needed to get into bed.
“I’m fine, just wait for me to get to my lobby, please,” I told the driver. He said something else, but I didn’t wait for it to make sense as I pushed the door open and stepped into the cool night air.
As I made my way to the entrance of my building and up the elevator, I thinking of getting to my bed. I took several deep breaths walking up to my door to help me sober up until I smelled the rank odor of nicotine. It triggered a flashback from earlier in the day.
I look down and noticed a crushed red rose at my door.
Chapter 6
Colt
The steady pounding of loud thuds against my door sounded like they were being pounded against my skull. One eye cracked open to see it was close to six in the morning. A deep breath forced itself through my nostrils as I pushed myself off my couch and headed toward my front door. I was still in my clothes from the night before and had no desire to do anything about that now. The minute I unlocked the door, Kyle and my brother stormed into my home.
“It’s about fucking time, Colt!” Drew yelled with his teeth chattering. “Why do you have to live near a lake, of all things? It’s freezing out there!”
“I don’t recall inviting either of you over here this morning, so you being frozen is all your fault. Remind me why you’re here at the crack of dawn again,” I huffed out another breath; the stench of Tequila clung to it like dew drops on leaves.
Kyle laughed. “Actually, you did invite us here. You told us that we had to get here by six for a morning training session.”
“Ha!” I tossed my head back with amusement. “There’s no fucking way I said that. Where’s Heath?”
“We tried to tell you that last night before you cracked open the moonshine. Heath was not getting his ass up this early, we didn’t even bother.”
“Fuck! Drew! You let me drink that high octane shit? Why?”
My brother shrugged. “You’re a lot more fun when you’re wasted. A lot more honest, too. Who’s Nina?”
Fortunately, the moonshine I drank only wiped out bits and pieces of memories from after I consumed the grain alcohol. Flashes of Nina moaning and writhing under my touch made me smile.
“Nina is going to be the love of my life,” I told them. I was still drunk, but I knew exactly how I felt … maybe, “At least, I think so.”
“Get the fuck out of here!” Drew joked as he moved out of the entryway and into the kitchen. My front door opened into an open living room with clear views through the space and a wall of glass doors that opened to the rear deck and yard. There were a few dozen feet of yard space before you reached the lake and it was all mine.
I loved my place just outside the city without the closeness of neighbors, while allowing me to get downtown within 20 minutes.
