Thunder boomed and lightning flashed, cracking through the morning and wiping that smile off Nina’s face as she jumped again.

“I’m losing my cool points here, acting like a big baby.”

“It’s making me like you even more, if I’m being honest. Here you are. The purest example of beauty, simply walking around Broad City, undoubtedly stopping traffic and breaking necks. It would be unfair for everyone else for you not to be scared of something. What do you do?”

She smiled, instantly forgetting about the storm outside. “I’m an accountant.”

“Oh yeah? the world’s already an unfair place, but here you are, probably more intelligent than the majority of us citizens, yeah, you have to be scared of something.”

“You sure know all the right things to say,” she smiled and looked down a beat before looking back up at me when I started speaking

“Would it be wrong of me to say I want to blow off the rest of my workday to spend my birthday with you, if you have some time that is?”

She folded her arms over those supple breasts and eyed me with a raised eyebrow. “Okay, I need to know what’s wrong with you. You’re not remotely creepy, and you can use your words in ways that make me want to do whatever it is you ask me.”

“Yes! That means you’re attracted to me.”

“So cocky!”

“You have no idea.”

“Colt Warner, you have to give me something. You already know thunderstorms scare me half to death. Give me something to even the playing field.”

I paused for a minute to give it some thought. It’s like those days when I used to go on job interviews and they ask you those ridiculous questions like‘tell me one of your weaknesses’. They never wanted to hear an actual weakness. They wanted a strength disguised as a weakness and that’s when it hit me.

“Well, you hit the nail on the head. I’m a bit too cocky sometimes. If you can spend the day with me, I can show you.”

“You want to show me how cocky you are? Or just your cock?”

“Such a hard word coming off those soft lips. What if I told you I wanted to do both?”

She smiled at me. “Well, Colt, I’d say lead me to the heavens.”

Chapter 3

Nina

What in the actual fuck of fucks am I doing?!

There wasn’t a prejudiced bone in my body, but Colt Warner has me wanting to pour all of his milk in my coffee. I couldn't stop myself from flirting with him, and he was right. I was attracted to him and didn’t even realize it until we were into our conversation.

The more he spoke, the longer I wanted to stand there in Cocoa Caffeine talking to him. I finally gave my order to the barista, and he paid for both of our items. We stood off to the side to wait for our drinks.

“Is it really your birthday?” I asked him, squinting my eyes to see if I could guess how old he was.

“It is.” He pulled out his wallet and showed me his ID.

“35?” My eyes took in every inch of his solid build before I caught myself licking my lips like he was a piece of meat. “A few years older than me. I would have never guessed. You’re aging well.”

“I like to take care of my body. That and I follow my brother’s training routine when I can. It’s not as rigorous, but it’s close- he’s an athlete.”

“Nice. So, what does the brother of an athlete do on his birthday?”

“I wanted to buy a company and set that in motion this morning. I came here to celebrate. I’ve been craving one of these lava bomb chocolate chip muffins.” He held up the muffins to show me.

I giggled, “Is it really a muffin if there’s dark chocolate icing on the inside? It’s more like an inside out cupcake.”

“You’re right. That’s exactly what it is and why not celebrate my birthday with a beautiful woman and an inside out cupcake?”
