Chapter 20
Colt
I didn’t want Nina to tell me she loved me after the night she had. I didn’t want her to look at me after pummeling some asshole’s face into the wall after he’d flung her around her home. I needed to keep my anger in check or else I’d call in more favors to get my hands back on that guy.
“I forgot how much I loved your place. I’ve missed you.” Nina’s voice was soft in the emptiness of my home. I turned on the lights. Nina looked perfect in the space. It finally felt like home.
I kissed her gently, “I missed you, too. I want you to make yourself at home. You don’t have to stay in the bedroom with me. You can stay in the guest room, or if you want some true privacy, I can put you up in a hotel for as long as you want.”
“This is fine, Mr. Warner.”
I groaned as the blood flowed from my big head to the little one. “Mr. Warner? Does this mean you forgive me?”
“Yes,” she smiled and stroked the side of my face with her hand. Her hand was so soft as it grazed my cheek. “How can I thank you for tonight, Colt?”
“You don’t have to. Protecting someone I love doesn’t require a pat on the back for me.”
“Why don’t you want me to say it back?”
“Come on, let me take you to the bathroom so you can soak in the large tub while I put dinner together for us.”
She shook her head and let me lead her through the home and into the bathroom, where I let the hot water fill the tub. We moved in coordinated silence, letting the emotions of the day fill the space. She slipped out of her sweatpants and tank top. I helped her climb into the tub. I gave her a tender kiss before leaving a few items for her to clean up before I left her in the room.
I didn’t remember what was in my fridge. With Drew having a few days off and a key to my place, there’s no telling if he ate me out of house and home. I laughed as the phrase made me sound like my mother. I only found the bare necessities in my kitchen. It was just enough to throw together a salad and some spaghetti.
I left the sauce to simmer and headed back upstairs to see Nina still relaxing in the heat of the large tub.
“Mr. Warner,” she taunted me with her eyes closed and her fingers dipping just under the surface of the water. “Wash my back, please?”
I took off my clothes and turned on the shower. She watched me as I let the steam fog up the room. “I will do just that in a second. I smell like Thursday.”
She laughed, and it was a magnificent sound. I wanted to hear it all the time. It didn’t take me long to wash the day off of me and once I finished and stepped out of the shower, I turned it off and walked over to her. I slid into the tub behind her and grabbed the large sponge she’d been using to bathe herself. I took my time pouring the scented body wash she’d brought with her onto it.
Nina swished the water around as she moved onto her knees and leaned forward. I watched the suds drip down her back, from the nape of her neck, it traced the lines of her rib cage down to the small of her back. Her cheeks like caramel globes bobbing and breaking through the surface of the water. I couldn't stop the erection.
Nina knew what she was doing as she lowered herself and met the firm tip of my hardness. Her fingers found me, stroking me to make sure I was good and ready. I let a moan escape my lips, and she slid me into her warm heat.
Fuck, she felt good.
The water moved with us as she slid up and down over me before sliding off and spinning to face me. Her lips, her mouth, the passion, it unraveled in that tub as I pushed myself back inside of her. I heard the sounds of water crashing onto the bathroom floor, but I didn’t care. Apparently, I didn’t care about a lot as there was no condom in sight. Every stroke inside of Nina felt right. Having her here in my home felt right. I only needed to see it for myself.
Fortunately for our dinner, we finished pretty quickly and got out of the tub in time to stop the sauce from bubbling over into a complete mess. She threw on one of my shirts while I slipped into a pair of pajama pants. After she swept her coils into a high puff, she followed me downstairs into the kitchen, where our dinner waited for us.
“You can cook. You own your own company. You’re wealthy. You’re handsome. You’re single. You are single, right?” she joked with me.
I dipped a spoon in the sauce, blew on it and tasted it. I held it out to her for her to taste it and she tipped her head side to side.
“Garlic? Salt?” I asked her.
“Both,” she said.
I seasoned the sauce and dipped a spoon again. She smiled and moved me out of the way with a bump of her hips. Once she saw where I kept my seasonings, she went to work on my sauce.
“I believe you were asking me questions,” I laughed as I set the table for us. We sat down with food on our plates and love in our eyes. “Oh right, am I single? I fucking hope not. I’ve been crazy about this girl, but I have to ask her if we’re still in a good place. We had a really shitty argument and I’ve been meaning to apologize to her.”
“Really? So, you throw out love before the apology?” The look in her eyes told me I shouldn’t toy with her for much longer. She sighed as I poured her a glass of wine. “You love me, Colt. You said you loved me, and you didn’t want me to say it back or even talk about it. Tell me what’s wrong.”
“I guess I screwed the order up?” I smirked at her.
