Gunner rolled off her and fully undressed. Then he mounted her again, holding her wrists against the sheets before sinking his cock deep inside her. She moaned, and he took her mouth again.

He fucked her, his strokes hurried and deep. Paige’s body responded. She lifted her hips off the bed, eager to meet him every single time. All her fears about the future were momentarily tossed aside. Only the two of them existed in that space.

It wasn’t long before Gunner shot his load inside her. After, he slid next to her. Both of them were panting, covered in sweat. Paige brushed her fingers over his, and he held them tight.

“I’m scared, Gunner.”

“There’s nothing to be afraid of anymore, Paige. I’m here,” he said in a reassuring voice.

“You don’t know what he’s capable of,” she whispered. “And I never meant to drag you or your MC into my own personal mess. Say the word and I’ll leave, find somewhere else to go.”

Gunner leaned over and kissed her on the mouth. “You don’t have to worry about me or the others. We can take care of ourselves, and I can personally deal with one abusive bully,” he said.

“Don’t underestimate him, Gunner. God. I never should’ve blackmailed him, never should’ve gone to his father, but back then, I was desperate.”

“You needed a way out, and you used the tools available to you at that time. You ought to be proud of yourself, baby. Other women in your position wouldn’t have the same strength you did.”

“If I knew I’d end up endangering you and the people you care about…” Paige trailed off, realizing Gunner was right. If she could turn back time, she wouldn’t change anything. Now all that was left was to deal with the consequences of her actions.

“Stop worrying,” he said. “It will all be fine, Paige. Trust me.”

Trust me. Richard said those words to her as well, but in the end, he broke his wedding vows.Gunner will keep true to his promise, Paige thought. Gunner would defend her even at the cost of his own life. His devotion to her terrified her a little.

“I want you to promise me something,” Paige told him.

“What’s that?” he asked.

Paige rested her head on his chest, and Gunner stroked her hair.

“That you won’t throw your life for my sake,” she said.

Gunner must’ve heard the seriousness in her voice because he nodded.

Chapter Seven

The smell of coffee and scrambled eggs woke Gunner. He blearily opened his eyes when someone poked him in the ribs.

The space next to him in bed was empty. Where was Paige? Another poke gave Gunner his answer as he turned and saw her standing next to the bed, looking sexy as hell. She only wore his old shirt and nothing else.

Gunner beamed when he saw her. Then he glanced at the breakfast tray on the small table next to his bed. Two plates with toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon waited on it, along with two steaming mugs of coffee.

“You made us breakfast?” Gunner asked. Then it truly sank in. Paige had to leave his room and enter the communal kitchen to cook. “Wait. Did you head downstairs just wearing my shirt? Did anyone hit on you or give you trouble?”

“Don’t worry. I put some pants on before heading downstairs,” Paige told him. “Only Razor was up, and he wanted coffee.”

Razor had an old lady of his own, so he wouldn’t be interested in his woman. Besides, Gunner made it clear to his MC brothers that anyone who so much as looked at Paige wrong would have their balls cut off. Paige slipped back into bed while Gunner picked the tray up and balanced it across his knees. Paige grabbed her plate.

Gunner took a sip of his coffee before diving into the delicious breakfast his girl made him.“These eggs are perfect,” he said, taking a bite of egg and toast.

“You’re probably just hungry,” she said.

“If you keep doing this, I’ll end up spoiled, and fast,” Gunner pointed out.

Paige reached over and patted his abs. “Oh, I doubt that. Plus, I’m your girlfriend. Isn’t it my job to spoil you?”

Gunner couldn’t argue with that. He resumed eating. Pretty soon, they’d need to get out of bed, shower, and get to their respective jobs. Gunner and his crew had an important delivery job today, but he wanted to stay in bed all day.

“So, you’re heading out of town today?” Paige asked. “When will you be back?”
