Nothing else needed saying.
He would not yield on this. Dominic stared him down, his dark and frightening gaze something that made grown men weak. But not him.
He would not yield on this.
On her.
“Dominic,” Rick muttered a warning.
“Oh for fuck’s sake! He’s sorry.” She pointed to Dominic. “He wants his family back.” She gestured to him. “And I’m tired of this shit. I want some food,” Winter burst out from beside him as she reached out lightly tapping his stomach in rebuke.
“Be nice,” she muttered, then she marched, actually fucking marched to where Danny was trying not to laugh while he fixed her a plate.
“I take it she likes food?” Dominic said and turning back he took in the slight smile on the man’s face.
A peace offering.
He didn’t know how it would go, or what was even going to happen, but for the time being, for his little bird, he would let it go.
For now.
“Man, do not get between her and her food.” He chuckled.
“Hey, that’s mine!” she yelled out. “Mark, Branson took my bacon!”
All of them started chuckling.
“I got you, little bird.” He jogged up, and with Branson’s attention fixed on her, he snatched the plate out from him, quickly taking a step back away from a fuming Branson.
“What the fuck! That’s my breakfast!”
“Dude you already had three plates.” Danny was shaking his head, as he used the tongs to add a handful of hot bacon to her plate.
“Yeah but I’m a growing boy. I need that! Stupid fucker,” Branson yelled and started jogging around the table after him.
“Stop running!” Branson yelled at him, and he started really laughing, holding the plate higher.
“Dude you couldn’t catch me in the slammer, you sure as fuck are not catching me now!”
“Oh for fuck’s sake. They are worse than you two,” Dominic muttered to Rick and Danny.
He made another lap around the table with Branson hot on his heels. A flash of blond made him glance to his side at Winter.
She had a piece of bacon in her fingers, her eyes sparkling, a big smile covering her face, and he slowed.
Distracted.
The tackle came quickly.
Before he could retaliate, he and Branson were on the floor. The plate went flying, as they both paused their heads and turned to look at the food that was now scattered across the floor.
“Fuck,” they both said in unison, and he tilted his head back further to watch Winter bust up laughing, a piece of bacon still in her hand.
Danny scowled at them as he bent over and started picking up the bacon that was now ruined.
“Okay children. We do have a situation to talk about you know,” Dominic called, leaning back in his chair, a smile on his face.
“Such a waste,” his little bird muttered, and he started chuckling as both he and Branson got up and made their way to their seats.
