One in a long line of many.

“No thank you,” he said, letting his fake accent roll off his tongue. “Will your fiancé not be joining us? I was promised entertainment after all.”

How he managed to say those words without throwing up, he didn’t know, but he knew it was the right thing to say when Ernesto’s eyes lit up and a sick smile crossed his face.

“Of course.” Ernesto snapped his fingers and a man stepped up quickly, bowing partially.

The guy clearly thought his shit was awesome.

Fucker.

“Sir?” The voice said shakily, and Mark made a mental note of it for later.

“Get her.”

The fiancé was the whole reason he was sitting here in this farce of a suit, instead of just shooting Ernesto. No matter how good he looked in the Italian Brioni suit, it still made his skin itch.

But a woman being held against her will was worth it.

A month back, he had gotten word that Ernesto was the type to host a lavish party or two. The center piece of it all of course was the harem of women that he kept at his beck and call.

Prostitutes.

The skin trade.

It was disgusting.

It just added to the fuel of why he was not going to regret taking him out for the Mancini family.

Ernesto would parade his women around as if they were just a piece of meat. Allowing his ‘guests’ the honor for the night. But one woman had caught the attention of several people.

The one that Ernesto never shared with anyone.

His ‘supposed’ fiancé.

Winter. Age twenty. Blond hair, grey eyes.

That was pretty much all he knew of her.

A contact had let him know that Ernesto was saving her. For what, he had no clue, but he could guess.

Nothing stopped a man like Ernesto.

Nothing but a bullet to the head.

He knew that if he didn’t get her out, her fate would be the same as the prostitutes that Ernesto paraded around.

Or worse.

It wasn’t as easy as just calling on a few contacts though. Ernesto was known to be extremely possessive of her. Never letting her out of his sight. It just set off more alarms in his head.

It probably wasn’t his business; after all, he was only supposed to be here to take out Ernesto.

Ernesto was the new head of a cartel faction that didn’t like that Dominic’s clubs were in direct competition with their own. That alone, Dominic probably would have settled peacefully, but then Ernesto had decided to mess with Rick. Now he was here to take revenge and make a statement.

The girl wasn’t supposed to be a part of that.

So he should have just let it be. Not worried over anything but what his mission was.
