“We won’t, either. Now, spill it,” Charlotte says.
“You both need to remember we are in a hospital, and Chase has been shot. We do not need to cause a scene.”
“What did he do?” Piper asks.
“See, that right there is why I don’t want to tell you.”
She sighs. “Quinn, the clock is ticking. Spill it.”
I look to Charlotte for help, but I’m not going to get it.
How do I even tell them this? Ugh. This is going to sound so bad.
“He has someone else.”
“He has a girlfriend?” Charlotte seethes.
“No!” I shake my head quickly.
“A kid?” Piper offers out.
I let out air I didn’t realize I was holding.
“What then?”
I gulp. “You know Valeria Sánchez?”
“The movie star?” Charlotte asks.
“Yes.”
“What about her?” Piper asks.
“She’s his wife.”
Piper’s mouth hangs open. Charlotte’s eyes go wide.
“Say something,” I beg.
“His wife?” Piper shrieks.
“That piece of shit,” Charlotte mutters.
“Shh. You promised you wouldn’t go crazy. Remember, we are in a hospital.”
Before I can say anything else, Charlotte and Piper spin and are leaving.
“Stop. You promised,” I yell out.
“Oh, don’t worry,” Piper assures me. “We won’t forget we are in a hospital, will we, Charlotte?”
“Nope,” Charlotte calls.
Oh no. No, no, no!
“This isn’t appropriate. Chase just got shot.” I fall into step with them.
“Yep, we know,” Charlotte says sweetly.
