Page 23 of Made for Cyn
If he’s waiting for me to beg, he’s going to be disappointed.
“Hmm. I heard you’re going to the arcade later. Don’t forget our deal.”
“If you already know we’re going, then what do you need me for?” I ask sourly because once again, this isn’t about me.
My stomach cramps at the reminder and with a sigh, I grab my hip, waiting for the inevitable lecture.
“Just do it,” he growls.
“Got it. Anything else?”
His nostrils flare and he tips my head back, with a fiery expression. How can he have me so flustered with just a look and simple touch?
“Did anyone bug you while I was gone?”
“Huh?”
He smiles, and my traitorous heart flutters again. “You have any problems while I was gone?”
“No, not unless you count Rand,” I mutter, strangely warm by his concern.
“Rand?” he says, his eyes darkening as he looks over my shoulder.
“It’s nothing,” I say, suddenly aware that he might actually do something about it.
Shit.
“What did he do?” he insists, dropping his gaze back to mine.
“He’s just a jerk. It’s nothing,” I murmur.
He rubs his thumb over my lower lip, and my mouth opens on a sigh. But before it can go anywhere, Cyn glances up again and drops his hand.
“Go,” he says, and I look around.
The guy from lunch is back with two friends, and I frown with unease when he grins, noting absently that his front tooth is black and rotting.
Gross.
“Go,” Cyn says again.
“But—”
“Beauty, go now.” I cringe at the command in his tone and step away.
Cyn follows me down the bleachers and approaches the guys, but he’s got one eye on me until I disappear around the side.
Once I’m out of sight, I lean against the wall and listen unashamedly. I’m pretty sure this is about to get ugly, and I wish I had Jig’s number so I could text him for backup. Three on one hardly seems fair, although Cyn didn’t seem all that concerned about it.
“Who’s your bitch?” One of them says.
Cyn growls, and I wince, turning my head in their direction. “Say it again, and I’ll fuck you up.”
“Say what? Bitch?”
A scuffle breaks out, and I hurry back around the wall to see Cyn pounding on the guy while his friends fumble around him.
The first guy drops to the ground with a grunt as the second two come in, but Cyn wastes no time and punches the first in the nose before turning to the second and tackling him to the ground.
