“Will it always be like this?”
He doesn’t speak for a long time. Just studies me as if he’s seeing me for the first time. “Yes. I will never stop wanting or needing you with every bone in my body.”
“And neither will I.”
His lips brush against mine. “You ready for me to climb, baby?”
I nod. “Yes. But first I want to give you something.”
Curiosity stirs in his eyes. “Give me what?”
After framing his face with my hands, I press my lips to his. He returns my kiss instantly. It goes on for much longer than I thought it would, but when I’ve explored every inch of his mouth with my tongue, I break the kiss.
“That.”
A moment passes in silence.
And then he smiles, and it’s the most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen in my life. A second later, he dips his head again.
As we kiss beside the engraving of my pack, I feel how close they are to me. All Mom and Dad wanted was for me to be safe and happy.
