"She can lean on me." The threat in his voice is clear. "Off-limits, Leo. No talking to her. No looking at her. No fantasizing about her."

Like he can stop that. I can't even control who stars in my dreams. Hell, I had one about Tandy the other day and woke up with my fists clenched and my jaw sore from grinding my teeth.

This isn't about me. It's not personal. He's trying to protect her heart, and I respect that.

Nodding, I turn and walk back to my dorm, a million scenarios running through my mind.

Someone hurt her. An ex, more than likely. And Max is doing what any good brother would do by shielding her from more pain. The only problem is he's not taking her feelings into consideration. Maybe the only way for her to get over her heartbreak is to move on. To let someone else's hands fix her.

My hands.

My touch.

My words.

Straightening my shoulders, I walk back to my room with a renewed sense of action. I need a plan, a good one. One that won't get me killed on the spot. Because it's going to take time to convince Evie to let me in after I walked away from her.

Again.

I really have to stop doing that.

It's not like I want to. It's the exact opposite of what I want.

I'm going to have to prove that to her. To prove I want more. To show her I'm not scared of her brother or the repercussions I'll face when he finds out.

She may be broken—according to her brother, anyway—but I'm damn good at fixing things. I'm up for the challenge. I just hope Evie is ready for me. I doubt she'll see me coming.

In fact, it'll be more fun if she doesn't.

A plan begins to formulate, but there are too many scenarios where it could go wrong. Which means I need help, and Craig is the perfect partner in crime.

"I don't like the look on your face," is all he says as I shut the door to our dorm room behind me.

"You're probably not going to like what I'm about to ask you to do either."

"Fuck." Running his fingers through his hair, he brushes it away from his face before clasping his hands on top of his head and leaning back in his chair. "Let me hear it."

"I'm going after Max's sister, and I need your help."

He lets out a string of expletives before nodding in agreement and saying, "What are friends for."
